I recently purchased a Battaglin C13 Super Record. It came with an SELLE ITALIA SLR KIT CARBON saddle.

When I researched about the Selle Italia saddles I liked this one the best.
After a couple of weeks of riding I found myself always adjusting the saddle position since I didn’t fell comfortable on it. When I contacted Battaglin-USA about it they told me that the only saddle brand they use is Selle Italia.

I know this is already a high end saddle but does anyone would recommend me anything different?

Thank you

So actually you didn't do any research. It was the brand which came with your bike. We've been here before, haven't we?

saddles are a pretty individual thing depending on body type and riding style. i love the SLR series. other popular saddle styles, like san marco rolls, are unrideable for me.

check out the fi'zi:k homepage. they have a useful guide to saddle fit.

Go to a bike shop and try out saddles. There's no other way to determine what fits you best. Been riding road avidly for almost 25 years, it took me 10 of those years to find my ideal saddle, the Selle San Marco Regal, and Regale. The whole stable is covered with different variations of the same saddle.

You should also get a proper bike fitting if you haven't already. Never know, it might not be the saddle that's the problem.

Yeah its a high end saddle - but so what?

The thing is that while its great to have the best and brightest everywhere on your bike, the contact patches are a completely different story. Handlebar shape (and therefore make and model), bar tape, saddle and pedals are all items that getting "the best" is not the best idea.

I know professional riders who still ride on Concor Lite saddles. I also know a shop owner who bought an entire import load of a particular Bontrager bar that was being discontinued because it was perfect for him.

With saddles, find a store that lets you try before you buy. Other options include getting a fitting using a tool such as the Specialized tool. It will let you know what width you need. Thats a good palce to start because then you can measure saddles (assuming you dont want to get a specialized)

Thank you for all your input. The bike is fit perfectly.

I was looking at fizik and probably at the ARIONE CX CARBON BRAIDED. Anyone has experience with this model?

if you don't like the SLR you probably won't like the the arione. that depends one why you don't like the SLR, of course. but they both have a similar profile and feel to me. you might need a wider saddle like the antares or you might have a better fit from a concor style curved saddle. whatever you rode on before, if it fit you, find something like it.

your best bet as many people have suggested is to go to you LBS and try it before you buy it.

I probably have to try out some different models like most of you suggested. The bike I bought is a pro level machine and I am hesitant to get a wider saddle. I will try different saddle models and brands before I go with a more comfort oriented model

Why? If it feels better, even tho it may be wider, so what?

What's your aversion to a wider saddle? pros ride on wide saddles, too. it all depends on what is comfortable for you. i seem to recall that boonen still uses a discontinued riveted san marco rolls which, not only weighs a ton, but is pretty wide.

So a wider saddle reduces performance? lol If you are not comfortable on the bike especially if it is being a pain in the *** you will not ride it. Everyone's anatomy is different that is why there are so many saddles on the market. Buy the saddle that is comfortable to you.

This guys is too concerned about looking pro.

Looking pro is more important that being comfortable. Who cares if your @ss feels like it is on fire after three hours in the saddle. You will be too busy looking good to notice.

He does, and they're not discontinued. Still one of the best selling San Marco saddles ever, Rolls, Regal, Concor are all still readily available. Imagine that, somebody wins races on something that "weighs a ton". I'm always perplexed by people going for fashion rather than function. Reminds me of my travels to Europe seeing women paying out the nose for terribly uncomfortable shoes, boots, clothing, just so they can look good.

I am convinced that the priority list for saddle design these days starts with weight then goes to looks and finally ends with comfort as a very distant third concern. There must be a lot of people that do not ride more than an hour or two at a time.

oh, the vagaries of memory. for some reason i thought the riveted one was discontinued. that said, sometimes companies do discontinue popular models. i hope selle italia never discontinues the SLR. eight hours in the saddle and it is still comfy.

Selle Italia also brought back the 1990's version of the Flite this year. Great saddle, rode the covering off a couple of those in the 90's when I was still racing every weekend.

I still have one of those old Flites. I am glad they have the new ones, so I can put one on my spare bike.
