Was using SIS, but recently tried out CNP and must say Im hooked, the protein and recovery shakes are lush, not the usual powdery taste that a lot of protein drinks have, and the hydrate drinks taste better as well.

The energy bars are not as good as the SIS ones though, i like that solid chewy fruit texture of the sis where the cnp are more oaty, but there flapjacks are pretty good, the gels are more palatable as well i find. .

And no, I didnt buy CNP just because sky use them, i bought them because through the fansite I have bloody good prices on CNP and was a million times cheaper than buying SIS. I got a tub of energy, tub of hydrate, big tup of recover, big tub of protein along with a few bars, gels, shaker bottle, bike bottle, and a dozen flapjacks for a shade over £40 :D

I noted that many of the riders in the worlds and at the lead up in ballarat were drinking iced Coffee imediatly after.

Sport Doctros state that after a race protine equal to a glass of milk is sufficent for recovery.

Try the Coffee it helps you concentrate if you have to drive home after a race.

I much prefer the Zipvit Fruit Punch energy drink to any SIS drink I have used (and I was a long standing fan) and the Zipvit recovery drink and bars are really good too. Based on taste - the Zipvit taste far less artificial.

However the best most effective drink by far IMO is the High 5 4:1 turbocarbs with protein, this really does give you an obvious kick up the jacksy :)

SIS make a really nice choc orange energy bar to be fair and at a very good price compared to Zipvit if you buy a box.

At the moment I'm on Zipvit Fruit Punch drink and Blackcurrant (i think) gels. Zipvit have been running some heavy discounts recently so I've been using their product for the last 6 months or so. I've based my choice on how well I can digest the drink and gel - some products give me acid reflux/indigestion so have learned by trial and error. Can recommend SiS for palatability too.

I've been a SiS man for quite a while but I recently bought a ZipVit sample box to try their stuff.

In summary, the ZipVit bars are delicious, but the ZipVit drinks are horrible! The ZipVit recovery drink looked and tasted like muddy water and the energy drink was like weak squash. In contrast I find the SiS drinks quite tasty and I actually want to drink them, which is really the point.

The ZipVit bars are very nice though; probably a bit better than the SiS ones in my opinion, although I like the SiS too.

Incidentally, I've noticed many Pro teams using the SiS gels out on the road, even where they're sponsored by other providers ...

Recovery Drink: SIS (soya protein and the vanilla flavour is tops)
Energy Bars: Torq and Mule (easiest to eat and good flavours)
Energy Drink: High 5 4:1 (Berry)
Gels: Torq and Gu (best consistancy and taste)

I really enjoy the High 5 energy drinks, i think the taste is very nice & it seems to do the job. I only buy gels every now & then & am currently using HIGH 5 also, a bit watery in taste but gives the desired kick.
I did the Stephen Roche sportive in Cork last May & in the bag was a Zipvit fruit punch powder drink & a Zipvit blackcurrant energy gel. The gel was delicious, full of flavour & did its job. I kept the drink for another time & had it about 90 k into an 180 cycle. I found the taste awful, salty & irritating & then after 10 minutes i started feeling unwell & pulled over to the side of the road whereupon i vomited my guts up with a bluey, pinky goo. The drink was a disaster & I would never try again.

Energy & recovery drinks - High5
Bars & gels - Torq

I've tried most drinks, but they all seem to make me feel sick, High5 is the only recovery drink I've found that doesn't. Not tried CNP yet, or the new gatorade, which was my favourite in the '90's.

CNP peptide and recover just taste like strawberry milk, or chocolate milk (water add, not milk). I cant normally do protein drinks, they taste to thick and powdery but I find them fine.

Want me to post a scoop of each to try :D
