Hi folks,

First post on this site - but this year about 5000miles road riding, a little MTB and loads of mountaineering - thats about all my old fat body can manage.

To be honest I had no idea as for the last few years I have been only looking at intensity. I ended up with a bit over 10 000km I think ( I lost some of my records due to a computer crash) Mostly road this year but in the past it was a 30% MTB and 70% road sort of mix.

I rode 7500km this year. Much better than previous years, but also almost a third of this was in my basement over the winter. Long winters in Canada! My aim this year is to improve my consistency when riding outside (ie, ride every day instead of every 2-3 days). Hopefully that will also reflect in my miles and fitness.

I hate the trainer - just hate it but that may be the way I have to go :(

I feel the same way. Nothing I do makes riding a trainer any fun.

I love riding outside so much. Different and new roads, unexpected changes on well used routes, forming an impromptu group with other riders, changing weather, dogs, drivers, trying to hit faster speeds on downhills, bonking 20 miles from home and having to suffer like a dog.

Counting the days until I can hit the roads again...

Holy cow. How do you ride that much on a trainer? Please share your secrets...

I've done 1750km on the trainer over the last 2 months. I mix it up with interval sessions, endurance and recovery rides. I watch cycling DVDs during interval sessions and action (and some comedy) movies during other sessions. I have a coach which helps keep my focused, and I am losing weight which keeps up the motivation. Oh, yes, problems with a long-term relationship also helps drive me down into the basement for reflection and soul searching!

Road: 5300 miles.
MTB: 1300 miles.
Trail running: 1100 miles. 100 of that in one race. :) :)

You ran 160km? FMD.

No idea how many KM I did last year, but I have done about 110km so far this year.

Out of interest how did it take you to run that distance? I have ridden 160km, and the longest run I have ever done is a half marathon when I was 15 and 16 (you are not allowed to run a marathon until you are 18, at least it is where I live, not sure in other places). However, the running days are over, me and running don't mix, now me and cycling...

3 miles and then rode the terrible 2. 7 miles and then rode the kings ridge grand fondo.

Total 203+105=308 miles. Oh yeah I rode some crit somewhere so thats another 40=348miles.

Must train more intensely this year. Fat is building.

That is the thing I like about living in Australia, and especially on the Gold Coast, you can ride virtually all year round. No problems with snow, it does rain from time to time, but there is nothing stopping me from riding every day.
