O'Grady, battling his 14th Tour, said this edition was the worst he had encountered. Apart from keeping Evans at bay, O'Grady said the race was terrifying.
"From inside the peloton it's been an ugly Tour de France," he said. "Small roads, dangerous descents, tiny little villages, it must look fantastic from the TV helicopter. From where I'm sitting it's bloody scary.
"You're always dodging people, prams, old people sitting out on the roads, guys full of their lunchtime vino."
