Thought I'd start a little thread on Spiderman, simply because they have a new team working on the next movie. Andrew Garfield has already been named the new Peter Parker, and just today Rhys Ifans has been named as the new nemesis for the next installment. Rhys mostly does comedy, but can get intense with great screen presence. He'll make a perfect villain. Here's a pic. And here's a candid vid clip.

If I were to guess which villain he'd play, I'd guess either Chameleon, or Mysterio. It could be Loki, as there is a Thor movie in the works. Chameleon fits his personality, and Mysterio does a little, plus leads into the Kingpin, who I don't see him playing. Kingpin and Kraven were big villains, but he doesn't fit either. There are a host of Spiderman supervillains to pick from though.

I think I like Rhys better in comedy than as a villain role. I liked him in The Replacements, which was not a comedy production but he was comical. I'm not much of a Spidey fan but casting Rhys will probably make me more inclined to go watch it.

Today's young generation love to watch romantic, drama, kind of movies. Few of them like to watch spider man series most of them are kids. So I don't think Andrew Garfield's appearance will make a much difference.
