maybe. Kristoff, Demare and Degenkolb have to fight a lot less men for position

said before the Tour I'd see Groenewegen would win 4 stages. He won half but then down to injury.. could've been worse of a guess.
Kristoff is too stupid to beat him on the line. Can't/Won't throw his bike in for whatever reason

to me it is about fairness ....
we all want a clinic free sport, right? ... so recovery can't be extended beyond the possibilities of your own body (apart marginal gains that is) .... and of course it makes some slight difference if you know I'll be just here for the first week as opposed to someone, who wants to reach Paris and therefore can't empty his tank in the first five days ....
I don't think it's a huge problem right now, as I do not see Cav, Gav & Co. going out on purpose, at least not regularly, but I would definitely not like a revival of the 'specialists' like Cipo or Petacchi who did their seasonal planning exactly that way ...

another possibility would be to have one or two serious mountain stages in the first week already and the sprint stages spread over the entire three weeks, but not sure that is always possible (geographically - could make the route a bit of a maze)
