Nice ending to the Giro, 3 newcomers to the podium! Great ITT for Purito, even better one by Ryder! Oh Canada!!!!

I agree, but do you have specific numbers ?

I know from sources that the list goes like that : 1. BMC 2. Katusha/Astana 3 .RSNT 4. OPQS/Sky/Garmin

But I have no idea how it goes further in the list and with the money. Any source ?

I only have estimated. BMC are basically unlimited but they are spending about 15 million a year i think. Vacans have a budget of 7 mil a year

Just watched a replay of the finish, Rodriguez was actually 150 m from the finish when he lost pink. That's after 3500 km of racing.

Count me in:D

Count me in as well, August can't come soon enough.

Back to the topic, great win for Hesjedal and Garmin, though I must say that this Giro was ridden in a pretty defensive way, but nothing wrong in that.

De Gendt was the only rider who made a real, long attack, that counted, big props to him and a deserved podium.

Tomorrow will be a sad day with no cycling.

There is no such thing as Evans fans or Schleck fans or whatever.

In this day and age there are only 2 types of cycling fans.

Those who like Contador, and those who don't.

If I'm not mistaken, he just decided to keep that avatar cause he's grown accustomed to it. Maybe Parullo will do the same thing

As far as i understand not only did ryo keep the avatar, he also elected to take it on on the dutch cycling forum he and dt frequent.

19th overall: Francis De Greef, + 35'00

Really?

At some point in the race, I have noticed every single one of the riders finishing in the top 30 overall. Except De Greef. How on earth has he managed to sneak into 19th? He's the Kevin De Weert of the Giro.

Good Greef.(sorry)

Hitch is part of two gangs. The Samu gang isn't as huge as the Alberto gang though.

Gang. Pfff. Dont insult The Great One.

Contador isn't a gang.

Its a family

Here we go... :)

Hitch I am sure there is several other places to fan the flames of this bush fire. I wonder if anyone will bite?

Sports net broadcast the entire race from the NBC sports feed.

Yes.

It's NBC not Canadian but it's still coverage. AND note often (not always - weird) it's only broadcast in the East and on the West Coast you need to have bought a time shift channel package to actually see it in BC.

In general coverage of cycling is rubbish in Canada but then coverage of anything other than hockey, baseball, football and basket ball is rubbish.

Thank heavens for the interweb (oh and proxy servers that hide where you live!)

Liquigas worst ever Giro in recent times???

I'd say on par with Giro 2009.

Yeah..He made a couple of attacks. Exactly what Rodriguez did too. And who didn't think Rodriguez wouldn't crack in the long ascents?

You can say that Rodriguez deserved to lose, because he should have tried more than late attacks. But you can't say that Ryder is a more deserving winner because of this.

This, exactly. Almost nobody expected Purito to win as well.

I think Basso is kinda gone already. He always seems to fade in the 3rd week in every GT after his magnificent 2010 Giro win.

It's definately a trend. I'd go further and say that 2010 was the exception. From his return after OP he's been an average GT rider.

Says a lot about all the second tier ****ers who stake everything on the Tour.

That's the real problem.
Blame Rabobank, Andy and Samu for the disappointing Giro we had this year.
Not Purito, who actually did a lot better than expected.

Samu has missed the Tour enough times to warrant a few attempts at the Tour in the autumn of his career, especially since he was denied the chance to compete for the podium last year.

blame the guys who are in the mid 20's and have been focusing only on the tour for the last 3 or 4 years already and want to do nothing for the rest of their careers than go after that one race.

I'm actually impressed by Rodriguez's and Hesjedal's ITT under pressure. So they deserved their spots. Congrats to Ryder, he didn't cave so he deserved the top spot.

De Gendt was good but not superb today. Said he didn't have the same legs, which i guess is understandable after yesterday.

Too bad this ITT was so short. Decay usually starts a little later and grows exponentially. Also, as a spectator, it should have been longer to be more epic.

The story of this gt seems to have been ds's

Hog angry with Frank. Martineli with Roman. Savio furious with Rujano.

On the other side ive seen a lot of Valerio Piva, and obviously lots of talk about Vaughters regarding Hejsdal.

Hah cmon the only way De Gendt could've won is doing a minute better than Pinotti which would be by far the best ITT of his life, even far better than the Tour ITT. Your expectations prior to the ITT were simply unrealistic and you underrated Hesjedal like I said before. But my arguments were void, right?
