If I can speculate a little witout derailing the thread.

Is Contador, Navarro and Hernandez (spl ?) enough spaniards on the team if Santander is the new sponsor.

Noval must be on his way out soon.

Maybe Samuel Sanchez but if Santander is the new sponsor they can start a spanish team, however they decided to sponsor a team where Alberto is, so don't think they have much interest in spanish riders.

I dont think Fabian have any interest in returning to Saxo Bank. His friendship with Schlecks will stop him from doing any work for Contador.

Plus Saxo Bank 2012 is totally different from Saxo Bank 2010. The team around the riders have been spread all over Sky, Leopard and GreenEdge.

+1

Aside Bjarne must look for new blood

Yet despite their friendship with Andy both Jakob and Fabian have been quoted saying they will not exclude a return to Saxobank.

I actually do think he have an interest in returning to Riis, he even implied the possibility some time back, and Riis reply was something like: he better come up with a good bottle of wine, then we can talk.

I think Fab misses the days with Saxo, and why not? It was the glory days of his career so far.

Course its a danish team and with 5 spaniand and one costa rican i think is enough, and besides it have to be well balanced with gc riders and classics, so its a priority. There are so many other great riders out there but you can only have 30 riders maximum.

Indeed! I think everybody misses the legendary CSC/SaxoBank. But riders like O´Grady, Arvesen, Larsson, Ljunqvist, Bak, Breschel, Voigt arent around anymore. Who will support him?

CSC was probably the best team after Mapei pulled out. Just look at the riders they had in 2005-6! Those were the days:cool:

AFAIR the wishful thinking above I think the reality of the whole thing was that a journo asked Canc if he had made the right decision in leaving Saxo Bank and since he hadn't won anything since leaving, he acknowledged that maybe it would have been better to stay. AFAIR he also said something like that they hadn't really been in touch since he left, but that he held no ill feelings towards Riis. Those fairly obvious observations THEN got the "silly journo treatment" and were turned into statements along the lines of what you described.

I don't think Canc misses the Saxo days - I think he misses winning the big races... And I think he misses a team with some sort of infrastructure. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go to Sky - but I'd actually love to see him go to JV...

Well, I actually think he do, he had a team with structure, he had a team who supported him and he did win races.
And I base it on the present fact, he joined a team who couldnt support him, a team who battle their internal shyt through the press, a team that is socked with lies, bs and no management.
What not to miss, he wasted 2 years of his peak career on these morons, and the fact is, he have a friendship with stuie, voigt and the schlecks probably becourse the team worked so well and did hell of a lot to bring people together, I think its fair to say this is the work of Bjarne and his visionary way of running a team.
What not to miss!!

I think they need to partner with Ethos water. Would make a nice kit.

isn't their DS confessed doper? how come he is allowed by sponsors to sit in the car during TdF?

a. He confessed on his own, it wasn't part of legal precedings.

b. ASO did not allow him to sit in the car during TdF.

c. He started the anti-doping program which UCI later adopted.

d. Riis is yet again allowed to sit in the team car during TdF.

He chose that himself though. Not ASO.

True, it was only hinted that they didn't want to see him and with Riis himself pulling out there was no need for ASO to publicly enforce it (which they probably do not have the legal rights to do). I'd compare it with the current JB situation.

That would be a fair comparison.
