My only defence is that, come on, that press release is quite possibly the worst April Fools' Day thing ever.

I refuse to believe it's an April fool's joke. There's nothing joking about it at all, and with Oleg looking to get out of cycling, it's perfectly believable. If it indeed is a joke, it must be, as you said, the worst April fool's joke ever.

And yeah, it seems very likely to be Wang Jianlin and Wanda Group. The only thing that puzzles me is the "major food company" that's supposed to be title sponsor. That's not really an area where Wanda is heavily involved.

They did something simillar last year already. Always before they actually let out any big news they announce a press conference a week or so before. So don't be fools, it is clearly a joke

Inrng thinks it's a joke, which is good enough for me. Apparently the bank holiday's wrong.

The holiday is not wrong. Source: I live in China :p

But if they have a history for "jokes" like these, I'm more inclined to believe it's an attempt at a joke. But cycling teams also love news teasers.

Ooh, I'm not sure how reliable you are.

Maybe they are being heavy handed with the self deprecating humor... Team sold from one wang to another Wang?

its april fools they already admitted on their facebook

I would love for someone to explain the joke jersey designs. Is that a thing? Chinese food company plus goldfish? i dont get it.
Maybe a carp would have been better but it could be a riff at Hushovds norwegian salmon stable.

Haha lots of April fools! :D

Yeah, chiefly the moron who thought that this non-joke would even approach funny.
I'm not bitter.

April fools pranks don't have to be funny, the funny part is the gullible people that fall for them. For example my local football club released a statement on facebook this morning saying they were ditching our popular kit in favour of a completely new, orange design. The reaction and anger of several fans was priceless, especially when they realised they had been caught hook, line and sinker! :D

The words 'Vincent Tan' and 'red kit' spring to mind when considering foolish kit changes, but I don't think he's deliberately idiotic...

But that's actually quite funny. This just doesn't make any sense April Fools wise, as it could be true.
