Boonen

Seems Boonen's focus is on the spring classics and women;both of which he has had considerable success with! He just does the rest for the sponsors and to keep his boss off his a**!

forgive me if i'm wrong but i seem to recall reading something to the effect that davis was dropped from the qs roster in part because his newfound success had meant that his wage expectations were above what qs could afford/justify.
of course, much of this "success" is based upon the tdu getting protour status and the uci rankings bonanza that this afforded davis so i'm not sure whether this was just an easy way for lefevre to justify letting him go or what.
i reckon he'll be better off at astana as he's unlikely to ride the tdf and may reassess his season goals accordingly; hopefully shifting his training to peak earlier in the year.

Nope, his contract wasn't up, so he neither demanded a wage rise, nor was he in a position to do so.

did seem kinda odd when i read it. here's the article.

Unfortunately for Davis, the lack of funds and a squeeze for places on the Belgian squad coincided with a season which would have likely justified a salary increase with the team. This year, Davis enjoyed one of the most successful seasons of his eight year career. With a focus on the first half of the year he claimed three stages and overall victory at the Tour Down Under, as well as fourth place in Milano-Sanremo and a series of top-five stage results at the Giro d'Italia

We don't know the fine print of his contract. His salary may have been based on ranking and/or performance targets which could have seen him due an increase on what he was paid in 2009.

I said he didn't demand a raise. If his contract was based on performance targets (unheard of in ProTour teams), he wouldn't have to demand one.

Methinks you misunderstood me :)
