He won the GPM in 2002, he would wake from his slumber once a year to wreak havoc in the Giro mountains until 2008. In 2008 he was on "that" CSF Group-Navigare team, and was one of the three riders (the other two being Sella and Baliani) who could be guaranteed to be off the front in any mountain stage. I think he went solo over the Gavia. On the queen stage, coming into the final climb the break consisted of Rodríguez, Nibali and the three CSF climbers. And a fourth, Pozzovivo, came 2nd on the stage.

Since then he's disappeared off to his homeland and been incredibly quiet. Maybe there is something in that. I hope not, because I liked him. But I think there probably is.

oh dear god shut up. perez cuapio has never been connected with doping and in 2008 giro sella was doped yes, but that was seen from a mile away the progression he made was ridiculous. perez cuapio from his youth has always been a huge talent that wasted alot because he didn't always live too much for his sport. he got homesick and wanted to return to his family in mexico in 2008 because he didn't think have the motivation anymore to race in europe.

Chadwick's Rock Racing win 5th tour in a row

Apr 26th, 10. It's a result most teams only dream about, winning five tours from five starts. Unfortunately winning the Vuelta Mexico doesn't make Rock Racing's future any more certain.

Glen Chadwick and Kiko Gambas in Mexico

For Kiwi Glen Chadwick and the rest of Rock Racing the Vuelta Mexico was the first race of the international season.

"It was awesome to get out amongst it again! Nothing beats racing with my team, they are a great bunch of guys!" an upbeat Chadwick told RoadCycling.co.nz after today's success.

"Our cards were down and we played the race to perfection. We'd all been through a lot of ups and downs the past few months and it was great to finally get together and winning was a bonus for sure!"

"We have no idea what our next race may be.
"As for me, I'm back on the flying Red Roo bound for Aus and back on the tools Thursday..."
