I thought it was interesting that only three teams were heavily targeted. Not really up for reading too much into the specifics, but it appears there could be a legality concern with discrimination? Why those three (Trek obvious I guess, even if the Fabian rumors were unsubstantiated)?

This kind of cheating must involve the mechanics and management. IE the team would suffer collectively. No way they could say it is just the rider that is cheating.

They could just immediately pull the UCI approved label off any and all bikes by a manufacturer involved in this until thoroughly investigated (which could take a year or two easily...)

It seems that except for some Treks, they only targeted Specialized bikes.
The bikes were taken into a tent, bottom brackets and seat posts removed.

Yeah, its all about the electronic shifting.
The rumor is the rear derailleur has an electric powered pulleys generating up to 1.738 Watts of extra power.

Pulleys are so small. Surly as soon as you put pressure on the chain they would become ineffective.
I would have thought any power would have to drive the back wheel. So something in the hub would be effective.

I was thinking of using something like this on my next race...

Hopefully no one will suspect anything.
