So I've found some motivation to take a good look at my potential team in the last week, put together a long list after looking at transfer info, neo-pros, plus some notes I took during the year. I have just over 100 names (about 30 less than last year's list, I think partially because I was taking more notes during the season last year and so I had a bunch of riders that ended up doing better at the end of the season).

I'm about 2/3 of the way through checking them individually more thoroughly. A quick survey down the list indicates to me that there are about 22-25 names that are a pretty sure thing at this point, leaving 8-10 spaces to try to fit everything. This is of course without taking into account total points, it's just a wishlist, so making the final thing fit will be interesting. But it's fun to start getting back into this again!

35 riders at 7144. Edited it several times this week. Still not a sure thing that it's the team I'll be submitting as I may continue to edit it in the coming weeks.

Hope it's not the one you submit because then I will have to send you a PM asking you to cut two riders to get to the 33 riders limit ;)

Well, there are five of them which I am very sure will stay there, there are still some others who I'm not yet sure on.

Got a bunch of Belgians and French too, but apart from that I have a very international team with the rest of the countries only having 1 or 2 representatives in my team. :p

on another note, is there somewhere a comprehensive list of riders & teams for 2013? On CQ there is in / out per team and methinks the lists are not always complete

Cyclingfever's list of transfers is very good http://www.cyclingfever.com/transfers.html

It's true some of the transfers on CQ are wrong, they still have Boswell listed as going to Argos for example.

Not true. He is out from Bontrager into Argos as a stagiaire (which is correct). You cannot find him on the Argos page, but he is listed as an incoming transfer on the Sky page.

After joining in last year, I have some thoughts about future editions.

What if we changed this league to one where you picked a team at the start of the year, but through out the season you had to choose which riders from your team you would select to ride for the week?

I don't know how this would be organized, but I assume a system would have to be built from scratch. If the majority of people agreed that this is a good idea, I would surely donate some money to whoever could make it happen.

I just think that it would be even more fun to keep all the players engaged in the game each week.

2012 was my first year playing and I enjoyed it, but I found that I started ignoring the league further into the season. Personally I think the beauty of the game is the "hands-off" element of it. You've got weeks and months to pick your team but once it's January that's it and we see how it plays out over the season. A season-long game like yours does not reward who is the best at picking a team, moreover it rewards those who pick every week, do not miss a week for work/holiday etc. and maintain interest all season long.
