By the way, is it just me or is the transfer season very slow this year?
I haven't checked but has there more action in the last years? You certainly use a suitable moment for the really big news. You don't want too much news at the same time. It was also the weekend and the press teams might have had some time off after the tour.

Is there a rule in cycling, like in soccer, that you have to go for a medical examination before you sign? Today there is a lot of money at stake. You certainly can't do that on the side around the Tour, where everything is becoming more professional. So I think a lot of the news will take a while.

I guess it's partly due to budgets but the womens team seem able to make the right signings to move the team forward.
AVV, albeit in her final years, delivered the Tour de France. Since her retirement signing Reusser was an astute bit of business. Meanwhile they seem able to make choice signings from the junior ranks with Cat Ferguson this year and win machine Paulo Ostiz coming on board next year.
Maybe son is better at the job than dad.
Sebas also has Pablo Lastras on hand. Basically look at everything good that Movistar have done in the last decade or so and there's a higher chance Lastras was involved in some way than not. He was on the men's side exclusively 2016-19 and while he still does spot duty with the men, he has been primarily dealing with the women's team since 2020.

Vallter to Bahrain & Stuyven to Soudal is about all I've heard so far besides the unofficial transfers of Groenewegen, Benoot, Van Baarle et al.
yes. nobody is in a big hurry.
the merchandise is not that attractive apparently.
all the big fish are are already signed with the big teams.

It also doesn't help that there are very few big talents who might still sign a pro contract for next year. The junior scene has nobody even close to the level of Withen Philipsen and Seixas and the U23 races have featured a lot of riders who already have a pro contract for next year if not this year (Widar, Nordhagen, Withen Philipsen, Söderqvist) or are mainly up there because they're older and the talent pool is rather shallow right now (Tuckwell, Novák). Omrzel and Sparfel have already shown they are highly competitive at the pro level and will be exciting additions to the WT, but other than them I struggle to see which (officially) unsigned riders have a good chance of making a big splash as a pro next year. The next people on the proverbial list are probably Finn and Pericas, but I've seen better first-year U23 climber seasons...

Álvarez is also officially unsigned, isn't he? And the junior ranks do at least have some promising 2008 kids. But you're right that the 2007 generation doesn't look too great at the moment.

I would presume so - although I've never heard of a cyclist failing one. & i presume they get checked out medically quite regularly.
Wasn't the official transfer window quietly pushed back to like October 15th or something?
Its 1st August - 20th october if i recall.
