I remembered this today and it struck me as the lovliest compliment I've ever received.
In a university union hall 16 years ago, an acquaintance (read: someone you found yourself getting ****ed with) asked me to sing something. I sang a Beatle song - I think it was 'You Can't Do That' - one of the most misogynistic songs ever written - and someone told me I sang it better than John Lennon.
I sang a John Lennon song better than John Lennon. *
That, my fellow forumites, is the nicest thing anyone has EVER said to me, if not the most sincere.
What's the nicest compliment you've ever received?
