As for Vingegaard. Nice performance and great overall result on this stage race but there is still some catching up to do. As for Evenpoel. He was ahead at TT and took one stage win from Pogačar. Not all that much cyclist can say that. Still some work left to do regarding his climbing ability.

Pogacar didn't seem impressed with the cameraman who hit him in the head with his camera (or rather held it too closely to him so that he bumped his head into it).

Yeah pretty well on their day but both are still better as one day classics riders than mountain goats

Okay, but if Van Aert would have participated this year with an eye on GC, do you think he would have been worse than last year?

Carpegna would have been too hard for him I reckon but had he been going for GC this week in Paris Nice on near peak form I do think top 5 was realistic

Bauhaus and Groves both travelled huge distances left to right at the same time as being fastest pair in the forward vector.

I never have, and I'm sure never will, sprint meaningfully, but does that sideways drift not impinge on forward velocity?
A simple calculation: If you over 100 m (in the direction of the road) move 5 meters to the side, you travel 100.125 m. I think more than 12.5 cm are gained (relative to the opposition) by moving around, so net positive.

What? When have classics riders been able to compete for the GC in Tirreno? 2016, sure, but otherwise you have to go back to the mid-noughties.
Rebellin, Dekker, Pozzato, Bettini, Freire and Cancellara have all won it in the current century, not to mention Roger De Vlaeminck.
