KWIATO 2

G 0

:D
well, G had terrible luck so

A true GC captain rarely has bad luck. It is just becoming a habit for him, and that has to stop if he wants to be taken seriously in the GT's
I love it when people claim bad luck which is 0% the riders fault just shows he isn't good enough to be a leader. It's like calling people who win in the lottery smart because they chose the right numbers.

So Kwito once again wins a stage race where Thomas is the strongest, that must feel kinda bad for G. Didn't catch the stage, but it looks like the usual, Dennis is world class and Sky are just smashing it as a team.

I didn't see any proof for that this week. Today Kwiatkowski was clearly better, and what would have happened on the climb without the mechanical, we simply don't know.

Sure, he probably would have stayed in the same group at least, ending up with a two seconds advantage in gc in the end - but if you count in all the would have, should have, you also need to take into account that Adam Yates lost 1:13 on stage 2 due to the crash in front of him, edging out Thomas by another second in that virtual classification for the win

I don't know why you think Thomas was stronger. Today Kwiatek was 3 sec better, Thomas didn't show anything special during TA.

Without the TTT:

1st: Kwiatkowski
2nd: Benoot +20''
3rd: Thomas +32'' (lost 34'' to the favourites' group on the MTF)
4th: Landa +33''
5th: Caruso +34''
6th: Rosón +35''
7th: Bennett +35''
8th: Uran +47''
9th: Formolo +55''
10th: Yates +1'16'' (lost 1'13'' on stage 2)

Ofc, the racing would have been much different, just a curiosity.

Thanks for putting the work in Netserk
I was just wondering exactly the same thing.

Come on Uran!!!

You cannot be this bad. Strangely enough he pulled a good TT in the Tour when he needed it the most.

That is not strange... a lot of riders raise their level or is really able to go faster than they normally do and push themselves more when they have something to ride for. I would say a podium finish at the Tour would be an example of that + good form ofc.

One major key to LA's wins on the road was rarely if ever crashing. at least until his 'comeback'. As much as i hate the guy for various reasons, staying off the tarmac (or off of power poles) pays dividends.

When is Rohan Dennis supposed to show his GC climbing legs? It's been 1 year since he showed top20 climbing back in Tirreno '17. Kinda short for someone who's supposed to be leading a GT 2 months from now....

Anyway, probably the best TT rider in the world (Dumoulin close), so who cares for climbing?

Not particularly impressed with Landa. On the other hand, much more impressed with Roson getting a top 10 GC.

Maybe you are too critical. As Netserk pointed, without TTT he would be 4th - but main problem was his ITT, he lost ca 50 sec to Kwiato.
Without ITT would be 1st.

It's not so much the TTT, they totally screwed that up, but definitely the ITT. You can't loose that much time in an ITT and be a top GC rider. Unfortunately Purito proved that not being a good TTer is a great way to loose races. Also the reason that Valverde choose to work on his TTing while serving his doping ban.
