Surely you haven't paid much attention to their sprinting, because 90% of the time EBH is a better sprinter than Sutton and Sutton has been Edvald's leadoutman in all races they have done together except from K-B-K when Edvald voluntarily said that he wanted to do the leadout for Sutton.

Edvald looked fairly bad today though, probably just didn't have the legs.

I believe they were too far behind at the 5 km marker, and had to work hard just to be at the right place when the last push was initiated. Garmin-Cervelo with Thor were right at the front the whole time and Thor's delivery of Tyler made the sprint seem almost effortless compared to the frantic push up on the left side by Sky within the last km. Also, Edvald launched top speed way too early. Maybe he's just not cut out for bunch sprints.

It's noble of Renshaw to say his lead out was rusty, I would say Cav lost the wheel rather than got knocked off.

HTC weren't the organised power that we are used to seeing inside the last 10km. They brought a strong squad and did well in the TTT so I assume they just wore themselves out helping Cav chase back on after he got dropped. Tomorrow's climb is less steep but much closer to the finish, so we could well see the same thing tomorrow.

But he didn't win any sprints in Oman whereas the one sprint EBH let Sutton do in KBK he won.

I'll pay more attention in future though just so I don't upset you maltiv!
In Oman Sutton was supposed to do leadouts for Edvald but wasn't strong enough so Hayman did the leadouts instead...

Generally EBH has a better top speed and can hold it the longest but Sutton is more explosive. The Sutton/EBH combo works very well occasionally as we saw in for example Tour of Oman stage 3 last year or stage 7 of T-A last year. Tomorrow's stage should suit EBH a lot better though, will be disappointing if he can't manage a top 5 at least.

oh gotta love italy's narrow roads.i loved that finish.
let's not forget alejet is well behind farrar in racing days.alejet will win one of those stages,he still looks like a beast in the sprint.
+1

Great roads indeed and for a flat stage, not very flat!
The T-A profiles often look benign, but end up ambushing those unsuspecting sprinters who turn up a bit out of shape.
All in all, a rather enjoyable stage.

They sure did.

there are two roundabouts (both used to turn off to the right) on the last 500 metres, seems to be quite dangerous. I don't really know if it's more a matter of experience or venturesomeness who will win tomorrow.

Teammates!

Wow, watching the overhead replay of that final kilometer was amazing. I thought that the Klier, Hushovd, Farrar train was a ballet on bikes!

The camera doesn't lie. From the 6:30 mark, this clip shows a textbook sprint timed to perfection. ;)

From the overhead EBH (and a few others) were eating wind for way too long to be competitive in the sprint. Garmin however had it perfect with Thor holding a very strong leadout for the perfect amount of time. Too good by Garmin/Farrar.
