Anyone have any updates on Tommy Danielson? Just curious as to what's gong on with him besides getting Lasik surgery. His website hasn't been updated in awhile nor does the Slipstream site do a good job with the teams race schedules.

He had decent form at Algarve given the time of year, finishing 20th on the hardest stage. Of course, he followed that by a crappy tt a couple of days later.

:p I heard the same. Will he be Garmin's out-of-nowhere TdF top 10 for 2011? With 3 Vuelta top 10s, does he even qualify?

Frankly, he'll probably miss out on selection once again, especially considering the Cervelo additions. Anyone want to take bets on whether he'll retire having never ridden the Tour?

I have to kind of lean towards him not riding the tour, but crazier things have happened. The guy has had a ton of bad luck. I just hope he can put it together and have a 'bigger' result.

Funny thing, he's kind of considered a disappointment, yet he has finished top 10 three times in a GT. How many other riders can say that?

Better not put too much pressure on to him. He's a diamond in the rough but as a young and coming rider he still might need a few years to mature. ***

First things first: before Danielson can think about results targets, JV is going to have to dial in a nutrition plan for his altitude mutant's eskimo metabolism.

We really should not make fun of Tom special dietary needs. I can understand his issues. I, for example, am Irish. I have a hard time without a steady diet of Jameson and Guinness.

Velonews just posted a video interview with Danielson. Dude's been racing with broken ribs since Murcia. Poor guy can't catch a break.

He's really hoping to do well at Cali and get a spot on the Tour Team. Said he won't be racing Vuelta this year and will be in Colorado.

Here's to hoping he can keep it upright for the next 4 or 5 months.

You would think that TD could shift his training so that he peaks in the spring. He should forget about GTs and target short stage races. He does not have the constitution to consistently race for three weeks. I don't see why Vaughters would risk using a Tour slot for someone who is likely to get sick by the halfway point in the race.
