Taaramae smiled a couple of times in the end and didn't look as if he was in pain at the end. Hopefully there's still a chance for him to go to the Vuelta.
E: Taaramae finished after the chasers group, so that means a 8th place for him in the stage, pretty nice considering that he gave his max for the full climb.

ahh Poels couldn't do it. Unfortunate, still 2nd place is a decent result.

pinot will is making good healthy progress as a rider.

Well this climb is a beast, imagine it being in the TdF

It has always been a "should-be-in-the-TDF" climb. Like Mont du Chat. Both climbs are depressingly underused when you consider just how repetitive Tour routes keep getting. "Yeah! Celebration of the mountains! MTF on a well known one! Climb it again another day! Huez! Tourmalet! Can't get enough of them! They're never overused! They're the only climbs July fans have heard of, so put them in in case the July fans feel stupid for not knowing where they are!"

Talking about Rolland, he slipped today.

Pinot is awesome, bigger talent than Rolland btw.

Yeah I didn't see any of this race other than reading the results, but they speak strongly for themselves. I'm excited to see how he progresses in the next 5 years, it seems like a looong time since a young French climbing talent has delivered such consistently promising results (although I certainly haven't followed cycling as closely as I have in the last few years, so my perspective is limited certainly)...

Great ride by Pinot. I guess he must have hunger flatted yesterday. Nice to see Moncoutie win. He should be in good form for the Vuelta, but I'm not sure that the course suits him, as there don't seem to be many days for long breaks in the mountains.

Is this confirmation that Poels is and will always be just a guy for the hills?
Dude, he was 5th, in the same group as the number 3?
Rolland was 13th

Guess he's no climber then either.

Man, sorry but that is simply a stupid comment. If Poels was 20th I might give you a point but now you are making as much sense as Bob Roll on a bad day

Different peaks. Rolland is clearly past it by now. With the form Poels had shown previously, if he was a real climber he would have been closer to Moncoutié and Pinot, or even up there with them. He was 5th, but it's not like this was the strongest field.

Poels is one of my favourite riders, but so far it's clear he's cut for hilly races.
