Very odd victory for van Poppel. BMC did a lot of work for Gilbert, since the finish included a cobbled climb, but van Poppel came to the front with about 900m, sprinted to get a gap of about five bike lengths and increased the gap thereafter.

What the hell was Breachel doing? He looked very good up the climb but suddenly stopped riding and waited for the Gilbert group instread? Should have stayed with Van Poppel surely.

With a finish like that on a sub 200km race, van Poppel could be a threat at the GP Wallonie if he enters.
