He or his team claimed that he could have been second had he not messed up the last corner, but I haven't seen a video of the finish so I don't know if that's true or not.

This really wasn't a hard finish.

But he had enough to get and stay away - the run up to the flamme rouge wasn't Scheldeprijs.

Danny van Poppel was much more then a sprinter when he was in the youth categories so i am not surprised.

That was an impressive win, wow. Congrats to Van Poppel, I'm excited to see how he will progress over the coming years.

Wow, he got a really big gap there in a very short time. Since he didn't do the Giro or Tour I hope he will do the Vuelta - I think a win there is within the realm of possibility, and would be huge for him!

I don't know why but I find it funny Juraj Sagan is a DNF in this.

He has no place in WT team. Imho he is there as PS condition. No WT race for more than 2 years and a lot DNF or billionth places at small races...

Yeah, it's completely laughable. In .1 races and above, his best result was a freak 6th place in the 2010 Giro del Veneto, His second best was 21st in Stage 2 of the 2011 Coppi e Bartali. He actually seems to have declined in the last two years, I guess when people totally gave up hope he was anything like his brother.
