Anyone want to discuss this exciting race? There is excellent coverage by Cue TV (Digital and part of Prieview) every night for one hour (21.30). Mike Northy won yesterdays stage with hill top finish on Bluff Hill. But who impressed me most was Fraser Gough who started the winning break. Future TdF Rider? I think so. He looked so rock solid on his bike - made look Gordon McCauley look like a B-Grader and we all know how solid Gordon is. And Fraser is only 19? 20? years of age.
I have to admit I am biased because I race in the same club in Hawkes Bay and raced against him when he was 14, 15, 16 before he became to fast for me. He is the cousin of Wesley Gough and there another younger Gough, Regan Gough coming though the ranks. Huge talents.
Anyway, wonder who else saw it and what they think of Fraser and the race.

Unfortunately, 21:30 NZ time isn't really optimal for the European population on the board (it'll fall in the working day), and even worse for the North American population (it'll be the middle of the night), so it'll be hard for those outside of Australia, NZ and the smaller nations around there (if we have any on the boards) to pick up and comment on. Good to hear you've got some good, proper coverage of the national races though, hope they can develop a good scene with the exposure.

Grouse race. Only bugbear has been the so far fine weather. Paddy Bevin's going well, except getting blanked before Bluff, and was nice to see Van Uden trying on Bluff Hill.

Easily the most important for me though is Michael Torckler's (Bissell) comeback to Stage racing after surviving a hit and run earlier this year. An in form Torckler would've been a decent bet for this race. Him (when he was in PBR) and Nearle, of Genesys, were easily the best when both were on form in Borneo earlier this year.

Sam Witmitz, of Budget, just because he's bloody brilliant.

Coverage of each stage (not just a live programme stream)- link

And there's also the youtube channel

As for the good scene, I'll trust Turtur to do keep the Oceania tour alive  The domestic Kiwi racing calendar has a pretty decent one with this being the marquee (what with 50 plus editions).

Stage 3 and Stage 4 Results

Two Stages on day four. Stage 3 (48k km)won by Patrick Bevin. The Bissel boys did an awesome job in the crosswinds to bring back the 2nd echelon to the first one and Patrick paid them back with a win.

Stage 4

James Williamson showed his class in a solo attempt to win the stage but wa caught 2 km before the finish. Clinton Avery did a fine sprint to win after he missed out to Bevin in the morning.

Most prominent teams do far would be Bissel, Share the Road, Node 4 - Subaru. The conditions are very testing - as always. Howling winds. Beautiful scenery. I put a link at the bottom of this post to the official web-site.

And I agree- good to see Michael Torckler back in action after his horrific accident in the States a few months ago.
