Wow! Just a month ago Ewen said he was going to wait another year before going pro. It would be interesting to find out what caused the change. Hopefully he'll have some good mentors in McEwen and Lancaster.

According to the cyclingnews article, he will start riding for Greenedge only in August 2014 as a stagiaire, so in effect he is waiting another year.

Big signing.

Looks like the next Cav to me

I dont follow regularly U23 racing scene, but by the few races I saw him riding he look much more versatile than Cav, more the sort of Degelkob kind of rider.

Tommy D has a contract with Garmin until 2015

tom danielson ‏@tomdanielson 18h
@ammattipyoraily yes. And 2015.
Well, some people tried to suggest Danielson was goiing to retire after 2014, apparently, there wasn't much in it.

I think 2013 was his best season since he joined Garmin. It's a pity he rode Giro, that compromised his season a bit, and then he had a knee injury during TdF.
Still prenty of strong showings including Catalunya, Romandie, Utah and US Pro Challenge.
Would be great if he can maintain this kind of performance for 2014. He will be very much needed in GTs to support Martin, Talansky and Hejsedal (not all of them perhaps:p). Perhaps should get a chance to lead some one-week races. He finished no lower, than 11th, in all of 5 one-week races he participated this season.

I feel sorry for some of the Drapac riders :( Davison and Walker.
Meyer had a good season in my view as a domestique/ was recuperating some of the form from before his surgery on an artery on his leg.
Cannondale too/ sure others will impress. Sky have Boswell, Edmonson and Dombrowski- sure they will all be a lot better/ shine brighter.

Danielson did ride very well this year:) You could argue 2011 was just as good though.

Anyways excited about Ewan.

Goss should become another Renshaw as he has so much trouble winning himself.

Also joining the ranks of people who were really great at High Road but have struggled since, along with Renshaw, Velits, Rabon and Löfkvist.

Most of the HTC guys have continued at roughly the same level (Greipel's train guys, Monfort, Rogers) or continued to develop (van Garderen), so it's weird that some of the seemingly most promising riders (Velits, Löfkvist, Goss) have tailed off since leaving, and others like Boasson Hagen have not progressed as had been anticipated.

EBH has been disappointing as has Goss. MSR 2012 was a long time ago and Velits just has not improved as I thought he would. Looks like he will be a domestique for TJVG next season or Evans who used to say good things about Velits. Maybe his opinion convinced BMC to pick up Velits.

Yea. Hagen has become a guy that can top 10 a mass sprint, or top 3 a hilly sprint finish. Seems like his only chance at winning is from breakaways, which is not really much of a possibility in Sky (atleast not in gts)

Velits I thought would become a top 15, occationally top 10 gc rider, so he has dissapointed a bit indeed.

Goss was already terrible in the 6 months after his M-SR win. Last year he was very competitive (going from a #3 sprinter to #1 edit: on his team) but it's a lot harder to take the top step when you've got Cav and Greipel as opponents. This year speaks for itself though. Unless he can start going uphill as well as he did (or we thought he did) then he's heading for irrelevancy pretty soon. The idea of a sprinter as the leader of your team is a terrible one when you have Cav/Greipel/Kittel to contend with, not to mention the burgeoning second tier of improving talent like Bouhanni/Demare/Coquard - Goss even at his best may not be good enough to consistently beat them.

The team is heading in the right direction if it's moving away from Goss, and big sprint trains more generally. With the likes of Gerrans/Albasini/Impey/Keukeleire they are already getting as many wins from harder sprints and Matthews/Yates/Ewan can add to that. Unless one of them starts looking like Cav there shouldn't be too much committed to the big sprints either in terms of support riders or wages.

yea, still better lock the boy down before he becomes too hot to handle. And Goss? Well, maybe he will move to OPQS in '15 when Inhale-Jet retires.

Or better yet, become Ewan's leadout man. At least in that roll he'll be useful.

lofkvist, renshaw and arguably rabon were never gerat at highroad either and except one vuelta what did we ever see from velits?
