Anyway, whilst we're on the topic, slightly at a tangent, I'm very excited to see what they get up to on Saturday. OGE won't need to do any work so I'm assuming they get a free role, and I'd back Adam over Albasini on the new final ramp.

If this year is anything to go by, 1/4 will crash, 1/4 will be burned out from training and another 1/4 will have Porte like shape.
Still a decent 1/4 though if they keep Froome there.

Not likely from what I've heard - Brailsford's recent "let them develop somewhere else first" statement hasn't gone down well.

I saw him a couple of weeks ago admitting Sky wouldn't have been the right place for them at the moment, but definitely wants them in the future.

I have to say in the interview he did on ITV that this was more the case rather than just plain arrogance. He also said Sky would be stupid not to try and get them back in 2016. I'm sure other teams would be stupid not to try and have them onboard too.

He was full of raise and respect for them which is quite right too.

Thanks for the link, to be fair though at least he admits Sky aren't good for them right now, also he only says that he'd love to get them back. Even the Orica DS's have said the Yates brothers are on a learning curve this year.

Ah of course, Sebastian Henao has been stellar at times this year. I hope Sergio comes back to really focus on the Ardennes.

I think that by now it is more than clear that he is not a "gc leader" but just a team worker.

Roche has rode well for Tinkoff. However I would think that he would be leaving for more $. Bjarne signed him because of the WT points he brought to the team. When Saxo was about to be out of the WT 2 years ago.

If Roche leaves he has been a good rider for TS. He earned his $ with TS. If he can get more cash from SKY. Good for him. A riders career is limited. And he must earn enough to last a lifetime. He was a good rider for my team and I wish him well.

This has been DB's consistent quote from the time the team was formed. He had said that he would have to rely on foreign riders to fill roles till suitable British riders are groomed, esp for the classics squad. This has been the "Vision" of the team from the time the team was formed..


Having said tht, the reality has been quite different. They hav brought in riders (mostly in dom role) from other countries. Roche, an Irish rider, is just a new addition.

The thing is: as long as the team personnel are part of the British cycling staff, any rider who wants to get more support in tracks will have to stay with Sky.

That would be my guess.

He always says the Vuelta is his favourite race and his characteristics suit it. He wasn't too happy last year when he heard that Contador planned to race it. He would at least want assurances on that. Fran Millar said just before Deignan signed, they were looking at getting Irish riders on the team so it isn't surprising to hear they have a strong interest in him.

Two years under a demanding guy like Riis won't have done his development any harm at all but I think it's best for him to move on and get back to the more leadership role he had previously before joining them. Winning that stage in the Vuelta I don't think would have happened with AG2R and he afterwards said Riis was very demanding of him that day saying he had to win. Plus riding the time-trials in the Worlds with Riis in the Irish team car and pushing him to ride them to help improve in the discipline, that wouldn't have happen either at AG2R. You can add the Route du Sud to that as well. The move worked out, but time for pastures new.

Not so sure Sky would be the best bet for him, Trek would be my preference giving him the sort of more opportunities that he had at AG2R beforehand.
