Not much of a rumour anymore. Orica-GreenEDGE has confirmed the signing.

Maybe this is the new Cadel Evans. Orica could definitely use a good climber. They are filled with Sagan-type riders (Cort Nielsen, Ewan, Matthews, Impey, Albasini, Gerrans, Keukeleire) and time trialists. Mountain goats, cobblestone riders and pure sprinters? Not so much.

Agreed, Hayman and Keukelaire have some cobbled skill, and Chaves is a real mountain goat, with the Yates brothers and Clarke good in mid mountains, but whenever they are working in a stage it's usually solo efforts and breaks. Power will be a very good addition and could also add something to the TTT which OGE are quite good at.

I don't know how strong Power is in a TTT, but Haig and Edmonson- the other OGE signings for 2016- would be above him in the standings for a TTT, and I'd doubt he'd get much opportunities with the current lineup.

Didn't know they were getting Edmondson. Nice.

I guess Ewan is the test this year but they better have the structures in place to help these guys deliver. Too many AIS alumni have underperformed relative to their u23 domination.

The difference is that both Haig and Power doesnt have a track background as all the other young Australians has. Being World Champion in track does not mean alot on road as we have already seen. And even if they do have track background (never heard of it) they are fully focussed on the road already.

Haig used to do MTB and Power used to play Rugby (got injured and started riding his bike).

With the name of Edmondson mentioned, does anyone know what has heppened to another Edmondson, Josh?

Heard somewhere that he was being linked to MTN-Qhubeka around November time.

Trail seems to have gone cold since then. Definately out of contract at Sky. Hopefully he rocks up somewhere and proves them wrong to drop him.

According to L'Equipe, AG2R offered him a two year deal.

They are in need for another climber next year for sure as Peraud may be done and Fatancur is ... lets not go there, so they basically have just Bardet.

That being said, I dont think any French team is a good idea ...

Pozzovivo is still there isn't he?
And Bardet will prob take most of Perauds salary if he continue to improve

Evidently, according to CW, he was ignoring phone calls, not sending in training data, and ignored their last chance offer.
Not strange on a team where the elder riders set out to actively try to destroy the younger riders by making them suffer as much as possible on training rides. I'd opt out too.

Ian Boswell seems pretty happy with his training with the Sky gang in Nice (looking at his twitter last year) Nathan Earle was fine too
