Twitter campaign targeting LA sponsors?

How about a twitter campaign targeting all current Lance Armstrong sponsors?

Who's that? Nike, Nissan, Michelob? Trek?
Who else?

Everyone, Tweet this:

Hey @nikestore, @Trekbikes, @michelob, @NissanLEAF - are you all lying cheating frauds like your man @lancearmstrong?

If this gets retweeted enough, the big cheeses are at those companies are going to have to react.

After deliberation with CN officials this thread is undeleted. However, please be advised to stay civil and do not use this thread to coordinate twitter stuff that either goes directly after individuals, or really is insulting, or offensive

that's just childish, imo. it trivializes the whole matter.

the only reaction it will get is to probably get people who tweet that blocked.

Yes, and/or

Let us make a list of all the individuals, companies, sponsers... who have been bullied, publicly austricised, slandered, defrauded, cheated out of winnings/sponserships (Got a year?). Amass that list in hopes that those entities put together a class action law suit against LA, his companies, teams...for compensation and public apologies.

I would agree - if you don't like the products don't buy them.
But if you cycle it is impossible to not have clotheswear, eyewear, helmets or bike that are not associated with one doper or another.

Obviously I would never buy nor be seen in a Nissan Leaf, but thats because I have some (just a little) dignity. And I wouldn't drink Michelob Ultra because I actually like beer.

I don't mind boycotting when a good reason and I do in my own way, but I agree with thirteen and think this is not exactly the wording or the sentiment that I would use.
I don't like to drag myself down to the level of some of the fanatics that we take potshots at here on the forum.

This is just the wrong way to get your message across

I think they all know of the existance of the clinic, but our collective would not upset them one bit. the helmet manufacturer are regular sponsors on here.

What happens to Armstrong will and has already greatly altered their advertising and no doubt they will distance themselves further as soon as they see the public opinion swaying against Armstrong and no doubt it will.

I think Armstrong will automatically shoot himself in the foot multiple times over the course of this investigation as his behaviour becomes unpredictable due to the pressure and stress of it all.

I already have and continue to try and find manufacturers that are not supportive of doping etc...

Tweets can be made (a bit) more civil and still reach an effect.

@ @ @ @ : What does all this say about your moral standards and credibility? #liestrong

@ @ @ @ : No such thing as bad publicity? #liestrong

It is not a problem at all to do, Dr. M . . . I have not purchased ANY products from Nike, Trek, Giro or O in at least 10 years time.

Being in NY and watching the comparisons made between the French and American justice systems during the investigation of the IMF chief case has been interesting.

French law makes it illegal to show a guy doing a perp walk. It clouds the publics view about guilt or innocence. When and if Armstrong is perp walked in hand cuffs, everything he is will be gone regardless or any trial outcome. Social media and the access to information will convict LA

Wonder if Lance will be effected as the huge wave of public pressure starts to mount. Is he really innocent until proven guilty? Or can mountains of tweets at 10000:1 negative to positive ratio turn the process into the lynch mob justice that everybody wants..the answer will be yes. People are done with the Lance is a hero story. Like Arnold..some days you eat the bear other days the bear eats you. Tweet on, lets see what happens

fatandfast, I just can't help it.

You accept someone's (or a country's) right to exist. However you might take exception to the existence of something.

Have I effected a change in your English, or did this little message not have an affect?

I said products "associated with one doper or another" - its easy to avoid products from Armstrong (IMO its petty, but possible).

I remember this subject came up before and someone who said they did not buy doping associated products admitted they wore a Specialised helmet:

Giro & Oakley come to mind. My wife was looking to buy some ski goggles last month and I steered her away from Oakley specifically for this reason. I do not follow Twitter and do not have a Facebook account, but I think if you want to have a voice, this tactic is as valid as anything else out there. I say “go for it” but keep it mature and civil.

Oakley comes to mind not due to thier sponsorship of Armstrong, but due to the scandalous actions of some of its employees. If they were sacked i'd buy Oakley, but not the now discount price Livestrong models:)

Just get a yellow pair of cuffs, Armstrong more dedicated to the cure two bracelets

One example of a Twitter campaign working is that very overweight movie producer that was put off the Southwest airlines jet. They insisted he needed to buy two seats and he refused. He got off the plane and within minutes thousands of people knew what had happened. Southwest apologized real fast over that and took care of him.
I myself do not Twitter or whatever. Best way to protest is write directly to company. They do not want any unhappy customers.

Nike spokesman @dkent1 on @lancearmstrong: "Our relationship with Lance remains as strong as ever. We are proud to work with him and support his foundation. Nike does not condone the use of banned substances and Lance has been unwavering on that position as well."

An email, or better yet, a hard copy snail mail letter might have more effect. Tell them you've used their product and will cease using it until they disavow their relationship with Gunderson.
