Replace it with approved equipment. Sounds like another revenue stream for fat Pat. Also a good way to expand control over manufacturers.

I doubt Pat McQuack is any sort of business mastermind behind it though, it's probably the manufacturers if anyone wanting to "openup new product streams within their existing porfolio" or some other suitably w@nky term.
