Warne is an overweight spin bowler who walks ten steps and bowls the ball. He hardly would need to dope to get through or bowl better. Fluid tablets would make sense especially of the hot South African sun beaming the players. His mum supplying him the drugs is irrelevant when comparing the two cases as we are talking about the drugs and their supporters themselves not the suppliers of the drugs.

And Kelly White, Justin Gatlin, Linford Christie, Dwain Chambers, Ben Johnson, Maurice Green and Carl Lewis are all 100m runners. They hardly need dope to get through 10 short seconds of sprinting.

Oh wait

It's not quite a garish as the Eastern Bloc domination in the 70's to 80's, but something is definitely in the water.

And Marita Kochs 400 m world record still stands. I'd love to know what Eastern Bloc women athletes were on, Raw beef with steriods or something. Most of them turned into blokes by the sounds of things which must of been slightly disconcerting.

The poster brings up an interesting comparison, Warne was most definitely a doper, in fact if you believe the bullsh*t story about his mum supplying the masking agent tablets (diuretics) then you are applying a massive double standard against Contador.

In fact you could even compare the treatment Pinto is giving Contador to the favourable treatment given to Warne by Australian teams allowing him to play some games during his suspension.

Actually I agree with you here.

Warne is a classic example of what they are trying to do with Contador.

Warne took a diuretic which is a commonly used masking agent - so is banned. Mostly likely he did take it to reduce fluid retention .... (especially as performance enhancing for a spin bowler is pretty hard) But still - he took a banned substance, he also had some highly suspicous dealings with a bookie .... all of which he has been completely forgiven for by the Australian public.

Channel 9 (who he works for at an incredibly inflated salary) even named him as Australia's greatest sporting hero in one of their countdown programs!!!!

so - its not realistically surprising that Contador's home town honours him and beleives his steak contamination story ....
