Did you catch that comment while the riders were going through the feed zone? Liggett recalled how Tom Simpson claimed he only needed his jam 'butties' (or 'buddies'?) to get through a race. Effing clueless!

A jam butty is an English jam sandwich.

I was particualrly thrilled to hear the classic, 'that's put the cat amongst the pigeons".

I watched the stage with the sound off. It might be better ?

I hope something special happens tomorrow - some sort of weird dynamics to unseat Leipheimer. Not a crash or anything but maybe a long break. I don't know, probably won't happen.

I see the UCI Chaperone w/ stage winner. Are they testing ??
Have Follicles, will test.

Seriously scarey last km.
Last time I saw someone taking photos in the road that closer to the finish was in 1996.
One loon running alongside a 70kph group.
More barriers next year, please.

Nice win by Viviani. I woke up for the last 500m of the stage.:):)

I turned on, thinking I probably missed it, with 1 mile to go..and yeah, happy for Viviani. He might have been swerving a bit to and fro in the sprint, not excactly a straight line, but not enough to protest, I think. Nice win it is. (Although, when he wins, I'm instantly happy because he's on my CQ-team, and then I realize that i forgot to put him in it. I have Guarnieri, Oss, even Sabatini..)

In green pastures....

How jaded we've become. Just looked at picture of all those people at the podium. In my mind there's some kid there who saw his first bike race and went home and rode his bike for hours winning the race over and over along the way. He feels only the wind on his face in the high country sun. A fast stream has run calm. There is a green pasture. He stops to rest there. The thought of him restores my soul.

All the Yanks out partying? A dramatic drop in posts this time :D

Good win by Vivani, he's another up and coming sprinter with a bright future.
