The road worlds this year take place in the Netherlands and if countless trollfests with overdefensive Gesink and VDB fans has taught me anything, its that a lot of people live around there.

And Britain is not too far off either.

Anyone else thinking of maybe going. I dont know myself yet, but if a few people want to, might just could turn into something.

No takers so far for this? Not surprised really. Bickering with people on the internet doesn't necessarily mean that you want to hang about with them in real life.

By the way I'm thinking of hopping on the ferry for this. Hitch I'll definitely be up for a meet-up. You can keep an eye on my kids whilst I get slaughtered. :D

It was discussed on velorooms - another forum with many of the same posters, a few months ago and about 5 or 6 people said they were up for it then. Another few said they would if its next year but have exams this year or some such.

Its also been discussed on here before in some threads.

Also 2 of the posters here are part of some dutch forum which does meetups at Amstel Gold so i figured they would be there too.

So there was a reason to believe a few people would be up for it anyway. Whether you bicker with people or not, its not like friends for life or anything, its just a chat while watching a race live which is better than just watching the race live.

Still wish Worlds was back to its old schedule, then the chance of getting there and would improve.

I will be there for sure, and would love to put a face to some of these names, I know Dekker Tifosi lives right there. I was planning on taking the train down from Amsterdam on Sunday the 16th for the TTT and the following sunday (23rd) for the RR. would really like to meet up early and ride to the best spots with a few people, Roermond start maybe? for the Tour prologue, I rode from Roermond down to Liege and it was a beautiful ride

I'm just across the border so I'm definitely going to be there. I'm not a regular here but would love to meet some new people!

I'm off to a centre parc nearby next week. Does anybody know if there is a garmin download for the Valkenberg course anywhere online? Looked at the official site and couldn't find one. Thanks!

Isn't this the one? If I understand the site correctly, I think you can export it as TCX GPX?

Like I stated earlier in spring - this would be a great idea.

I will be there anyway and life only 10km away. Often in that neighbourhood for cycling and fishing. Or both.
Those Dutch, sorry, those Limburgs people are really nice, and cycling paths and area are close to perfect. Netherlands highest MOUNTAIN is also very close, if you want to do some real mountains. :D

Should be interesting. Especially the international mixture. Did some forum-meetups with some people from German forums, and we even did some unofficial, illegal (uaaaaaaaah) racing. lol
Only negative consequence was, that all people/posters taking part, did stop raking with gunfire in the forums. After that, all that was left was just pure love among those people showing up. To my surprise, an impressive number of 40-50% were female.
Those real life meetings did totally destroy the ambiente in that virtual world called forum. ;)

Would even offer some sleeping places for the travellers, or perhaps some garden for your tents - in case you hate cats, or if they should hate you.
I just hate ordinary people. Don't even try.

PS: It's VALKENBURG. "The" Valkenberg is a helling/hill in de Ronde von Vlanderen and only ca.150km away. Don't get lost. Belgium is really ugly.

Sorry didn't know it costs money. Use it as a sample to map it yourself and export it to your garmin (Tcx/Gpx ability with the garmin communicator) on:

haven't checked how well it works. Mapping is easy. I would just to a couple of miles and then test export it to see if it picks up. Otherwise you spend time to create a full map and it fails to export... That could lead to sever computerdamage. Computer ---> [ ] window

There might be other online mapping sites out there too that have the export capability.

yes, we should establish a spot/cafe somewhere along the course and a meeting time well before the finish

I will be in Valkenburg this Sat and Sun, and will be riding Sunday morning before the TTT if anybody is in the area and wants to get a ride in, weather looks good, and hopefully getting in the Amstel Gold race museum. I will be playing poker Sat night at Holland Casino.

Will have a look at the Men's TT tomorrow. Should be the Landgraaf/Megaland area around 14:00.

Will wear my USPS costume so that I can be sidelined easily. ;)
