You mean spectators? I heard he isn't liked in the peloton because of the way he behalves in a race (the constant show, silly riding, ... basically going into the general flow of cycling rules). They do got respect for his achievements though.
Anyway that's what I heard on tele from some (former) pro's, as a spectator I couldn't care less, I like watching him race :)

His antics are completely over the top. The whole bottle smashing, face pulling, pretending to be weak.

I find myself liking him a bit more now though, this July he was more about getting the job done. I started appreciating his efforts after his superb solo victory in Brabantse Pijl.

Does he dope? Of course.

If Voeckler gets a positive, the French will crucify him. Virenque was a hero until he got caught/was accused.

If he were caught and then didn't lie the way Virenque did and does the contrite act he might just stay popular. Virenque stuffed up by lying as much as by doping far as I can see.

So more of a Vino move? I guess I could see that, but would not have the love Vino still has.

This is what is very suspicious. Voeckler wining a TT against some good TTers. Mountains transformation from a breakaway specialist may be possible by reducing weight but to do TTing as well puts him in the miracle transformation category:rolleyes:

Amazing that Brailsford didn't see the potential and snap him up for sky

I would be d'accord with him as the world champ under the condition that he wears shorts that are a bit longer.

To be fair - that IS written by Vayer. Whom I respect greatly - but he is still working the crowd - and crystal balling the conclusions - so "Could be, maybe not".

Ok - roll your eyes. I also have my doubts, and we'd be st-you-pid not to doubt. All the same, Tommy has been a strong cyclist for many years. On the edge of the greats - so to have an exceptional result? Things COULD be just as he says - a surprise.

It's been a long time since the English kings laid claim to French soil. That's alright - no worries. A little sarcasm can lighten the tone, eh?

Sudden ITT ability is normally a bit of a tell. Me thinks Tommy will be ready for Florence...

Hmmm - yeah. Sudden ITT ability - bit of a tell. Yeah. But the key word is "bit". Nothing conclusive, eh? Just a reason to be suspicious. And being suspicious is a good thing, given the environment over the past 20 years.

But, I've got to say, I am damn glad McQuaid seems to be on the way out. I fervently hope that Cookson does real things to improve the UCI's anti-doping policies and drug testing. So maybe we can go back to trusting Tommy - because he's passed the drug testing. I'll even accept the 90% certainty possibility.

Anybody got a profile of the stage handy? Voeckler putting 29 seconds into noted TTists like Durbridge and Larsson, on a flat course, is not normal. If there were a couple of hills then I could see it happening, if Voeckler was on top form and the others had bad luck.

from what i read in other places, it looks more likely that others had bad luck than Voeckler did an amazing TT.

I am more than willing to accept Voeckler's interpretation of the win: that of surprise. He even said that a bunch sprint is all that is left for him. I haven't seen a better way to phrase the irony of Voeckler's TT win.

leaving 26 sec to Voeckler either means that the other riders are not in the peak of their form, or they had bad luck.

The proof of the insinuations will be another TT win. For that to happen, other riders should stop pedalling and Tommy alone should go full gas.

tbf he was absolutely **** in the tour which is where he would have wanted to go full genius. Being so good now could just be him on peak vs other riders not on it.

Maybe. I may be wrong but would imagine Larsson and Durbridge will be building to the Worlds ITT and will be pretty good shape just now.

There are kne conditions which can flare up, then subside quite quickly. Pes anserine bursitis is one such ailment. A day of rest does a lot to alleviate pain from bursitis.

I have no idea what his actual diagnosis is. Does anyone have insight.

On a personal note, I fing Voekler difficult to tolerate. Yes, he animates races. But, his theatrics, horrific looking position on the bike, and herky-jerky performances just don't appeal to me.

He's the French hero, though. Must be difficult times being a French cycling fan.
