Very little. Gaviria was just faster than him. And there was still space on the left of the Colombian.

Gaviria did move and there could be a protest.

I think there is a difference between movement and intentionally cutting someone off or blocking the other sprinters path. Gaviria did movie slightly but like I said before: it was not a lot and there was lots of space to his left.

A wise saying is that you won't get closed off if you are the one in front ;)
Hey, I would be mad as well if I slowly began to realise that a) I didn't have the speed I used to and b) that QuickStep has the 2 flat out fastest sprinters in the peloton all of a sudden. Superstar Gaviria.

Looks like maybe Greipel wasn't actually mad at Gaviria, or at least he was able to cool down overnight.

1st stage done here in @VAlgarve2017 and sad to not finish a good teamwork of @Lotto_Soudal. Congrats to @FndoGaviria being fastest.

Yeah I was under the impression that he simply didn't expect that move and it gave him a little jumpscare, which is why he was upset after, and not because it cost him the victory.

Strange thing about this race, is that has a higher reputation than "Volta à Portugal". They choose the schedule wisely, when the best riders are free

Abroad maybe but for a portuguese, grandissima is the real deal. And rightfully so.
The problem is that "Volta à Portugal" schedule is very close to Vuelta, so the best riders aren't available
