Just seen on biciciclismo that the route and teams for this race have been announced.
The route is very unusual - 4 mountain or hill top finishes and a team trial.

Stages:

Etapa 1: Villarcayo-Alto de San Juan del Monte (Miranda de Ebro) (168 kms)

Etapa 2: Burgos-Castillo de Burgos (144 kms)

Etapa 3: Pradoluengo-Belorado (11,6 kms)

Etapa 4: Roa de Duero-Clúnia (Peñalba de Castro) (168 kms)

Etapa 5: Areniscas de los Pinares-Lagunas de Neila (155 kms)

I don't know much about how difficult the finishes are, other than Lagunas de Neila, so would be interested to hear from anyone with more knowledge.

Teams: Euskaltel, Movistar y Katusha (ProTour); Caja Rural, Geox, Andalucía Caja Granada, Colombia es Pasión, Française des Jeux, Saur-Sojasun, Topsport Vlaanderen, Acqua & Sapone, Androni Giocattoli y Skil-Shimano (Profesional Continental); y Burgos 2016 y Orbea (Continental). Plus one more.

Possible riders I guess would be Anton and Nieve for Euskaltel, Rodriguez for Katusha, Menchov, Sastre and Duarte (if fit) for Geox. Skil will presumably bring their Vuelta squad, and Colombia es Pasion will hopefully bring their better climbers (they are also doing Tour de l'Ain which is around the same time). Caja Rural will want to show that they should have got into the the Vuelta a Espana.

Serpa and Sella, yes. Rujano, I'm not so sure as I think he is doing the Vuelta a Venezuela with his Venezuelan team in the second half of July.

I read that Rujano will be going back to Italy after Venezuela to do 10 or so races In Europe. Burgos probably comes a bit early though.

I just read some bad news, accoriding to article on ciclismototal in venezuela, rujano has gotten into argument with savio over vuelta venezuela, which savio promised rujano with androni would ride but savio backed out of it to do brixia with rujano but rujano refused. now rujano is without a team according to his manager aleman. still let's wait and see what happens...

His charming personality strikes yet again. Not that Savio is any better but well..

Ryo you follow him much more then the rest of us, so you might know if Rujano is with the same Manager since his breakthrough Giro? Seems to me that the poor guy is getting very bad advice for his career from someone.

no he's broken up with that manager after 2008, this is 100% savio's fault and I hope they will solve matters, although right now savio needs rujano more than the other way around

San Juan del Monte has been used as stage 2 the last two years. The others look like more or less like selective sprints. Essentially the race of late has been about negotiating some gaps in the first few stages, just enough to turn Lagunas de Neila into exciting chaos, which it usually provides.

I just read the report on ciclismototal - it doesn't specify that Rujano actually refused orders from Savio to do Brixia. When Rujano signed for Androni last year, it was reported that his contract allowed him to go back to South America after the Giro to ride the Vueltas of Venezuela and Colombia (before the latter's date change). So it is possible that that is still happening.

Another possible factor is that Rujano (rather naively) is still talking about setting up a Venezuelan pro team to do the Giro and Vuelta next year, so perhaps that has contributed to any possible disagreement.

Talking about stupidity.

If true, this guy really needs some guidance.

he already has a venezuelan team. it
s not silly at all. add 3-4 million euros to androni and you have a total killer squad for the gt's even more so than now. in fact a lot less money would do

Last I read was that he's given up on that. The government didn't get back to him...

he already has a venezuelan team.

It's only an elite level team, after the Giro he was talking about trying to get funding for a World Tour team from the state oil congomerate, modelled on Katusha/Astana I guess.

In any case, Rujano definitely won't be at Burgos. The teams are on the race website - Androni have Vicioso as leader plus Rodriguez and some others (not incl. Sella, Serpa or Monsalve).

he wasn;t talking about that. he was only talking about getting a squad to win him giro 2012. that's what's going to happen
