A proper sprinters day?

No, that profile is garbage.

The last kilometre rises with about 5%.

Maybe one for the Caja Rural fast men. They kind of need to win a stage now that all the other wild card teams have done so.

The vuelta constantly gets praised for not making boring flat stages but then they make this stage finishing in freakin Oviedo. Something doesn't add up

I'm warming up to this Vuelta, the stage shouldn't have GC ramifications, although an uphill sprint finish could get Valverde a puncher's chance to get a time bonus.

Why don't the GC teams come to an arrangement with the four or five sprinters, and then let them and their helpers get into the break and make it an easy day for the GC teams.

Ther are other sprinters in the field and of course if you feel your sprinter is better on the cat 3 climb, then you make it hard.

This should be a sprint with Bennett, Gaviria, Mezgec and others (no idea who else is there) in the mix.

If that's the case then maybe another stage for Gilbert/Valverde/Aranbaru?

It seems like the final 400 meters are actually flat but the preceding 800 metres are uphill, of which 200 have an average of 10%.

I think Bennett may have a chance.

A weird stage. Set up like a traditional flat sprint stage but with a 200m ramp before the finish to get rid of the sprinters.

I kind of doubt the little ramp will get rid of any significant sprinters, just the speed they will have before will vault them over it.

Looks like slightly easier than the Cauberg.

What a disappointing parcours for a Saturday stage. Semi rest day for the GC guys who must face tomorrows daunting climbs. Today most likely a snoozer :(
