Vuelta TTT dirt road

What do you think of the race organisers' decision to include a dirt path in the route?

I think a dirt road should be allowed to be included, but from what I can judge from Froome's picture, I'd say the sand is quite deep. I'm not sure what sort of effect riding over it with 9 riders at 50 k an hour will have, but I don't think it'll be too pretty.

Any thoughts?

As a Spaniard, I can only apologize to cycling fans worldwide for the "idea" of Vuelta organiser Javier Guillen to design no less than a TTT in what is basically the beach of Marbella.

I don't think the sand is deep, look at the picture above. Maybe the other pic is from a section where the sand is deeper

From the articles it seems like an attempt to create crashes or the risk thereof in the name of "spectacle." I am hoping there is a logical explanation or that the sand as shown in that and other pictures is not what will be there when the TTT is held.

It'll be a new trend.
In the Giro, they'll do a TTT in the water, to do one better.

It is just a kermesse .. a 7km ttt will be done in 7 minutes. maximum gaps 25 secs. 3 or 4 secs per km. between first and last

And from the other pictures I've seen, it doesn't look deep at all. No big deal, and the riders and teams who are complaining should shut up. The route has been public for months.

They actually did one on pontons.
The Venezia ITT?

That's what I think. It seems like a rather solid road with a layer of loose sand on it. I actually ride on a similar road very often (not at 60kph though  )

Actually, the final route was only released a couple of days ago. This is the Vuelta.

The sand looks deep enough to me in the last pic. I don't know, maybe many people here ride exclusively on tarmac roads and don't encounter loose sand, but it's pretty nasty stuff.

As I said in the other thread, I used to walk/run that route regularly. It's actually quite rough in places....for cycling, not running. I would hate to ride on there at full tilt with the inevitable crowds. They should have made the route along the second line of bars then back along the front amongst the Bentleys and Ice Cream eaters. :)

So the riders have to go a little slower over those sections.. case closed. Of course Mr Crookson is ready to deal with it when twitter starts complaining again.. idiot

Hoping, Purito, but I know he won't win.

When a rider see a corner, he brakes, becouse if he go in the corner at 80 Km/h, he crash, here is the same.

And the 22nd team will have to take more care and lose more time than the first. Fair?
