That's my favourite Armstrong story to share with cycling fans who aren't doping-savvy.BroDeal said:When Armstrong dumped Landis' rest day blood bag down the sink to punish him for signing with another team.
fatandfast said:Landis like hundreds of other pros saw the cancer Lance as too incredible to even understand. the guy jammed his junk anywhere he could and all that was while he was married. The guys at the hotels and riding next to him couldn't believe the press about how he was becoming a super hero right before their eyes. Landis did lots of things Lance did and to date have had very different outcomes. Livestrong/Trek/FRS/SRAM and a few others could have been a place for Landis. An all old man team was not the fit for Floyd. He has nothing to bring to a touring team. His form to date has been shiett. He has all kinds of legal and personal issues that could have been a real stink bomb if he was pinched by the pigs in France for a hacking charge. He trips all over the place most recent in NZ..dropped a minute..or 2..that's never a big deal. The lack of mental composure is the problem. Lance and Landis are both good racers the fall out happens when you want some positive attention and 1 guy is getting all of it and the other guy can't get any..even while begging everybody from magazines, race promoters, manuf, teams and who finally reaffirmed his valuable.. the police..I wonder how crushed Landis will be after Novitzky turns his back on the flaying Floyd. This is going to end very sad..very,very sad
Based on what I've read, I imagine there was resentment from Landis towards Armstrong before he left USPS. Riding on USPS meant you got to ride the biggest races and had access to the medical program and team connections, but it also meant your own ambitions had to be shelved so you could focus on getting Armstrong a TDF win. That wouldn't be so bad if he was a true leader or at least a nice guy, but imagine being on the inside and seeing him make multi-millions and become a "hero" while treating you, current and former teammates, and countless others like crap. That would be a conflict - the guy is a jerk, but it's nice to be on the winning team. But when you take your own shot at the prize, he dumps on you. And when you get busted for doing what he did successfully for years, he turns away from you. Yeah, I'd be resentful.knewcleardaze said:I'm too young for Alzheimers, but when did their fallout begin?
When Floyd left for Phonak?
