What do you think UK is the best spot for mountain biking!

Some people think UK is the best place in the world for mountain biking. There are 10-25 cycling events in every month in UK in which 8-15 cycling events are more popular across the world. People’s think UK is the best place for cycling events because in UK they are most interested to ride bicycles than other vehicles and the weather conditions of UK is very dependable for the races.

You know this is the Professional Road Racing forum? There is a mountain biking forum somewhere in here although I'm not sure if it's just for discussing professional mountain bike racing or has an area for specific discussions on recreational mountain bike riding.

Because I dont want to see this poor dude's thread drop faster than one of mine....

I dont live there but visit often and the other half is from the north east.

2 reasons from my experience; Trails are relatively accessible from most towns. and the dirt hooks up like a motha....

Although wet dirt doesn't mud up like here in so cal. and the wet ground allows for a tacky grip giving confidence in sections I wouldn't dream of entering with speed in socal.

Hampsterly Forest and The Lakes district is where I have ridden most. Also did the Coast to coast ride to robbinhoods Bay. that is worth a few days of your life. Started hard core shortest ttime. Flatted near a town. stopped for a pint and decided to make it 4 days staying over in B&Bs and pub meals. best time of my life. fat drunk and stupid is the only way to ride the coast to coast

I will say however that the coldest ride of my entire cycling Life was a summers ride in Scottland. forgetaboutit

Austria, France, Switzerland, Canada are absolutely countries with MTB better places but UK have some really great places also no doubt about that.

The last time I rode in England, Wales, and Ireland was before mt bikes hit the big time. I remember that they had lots of foot paths marked on their Ordnance maps (their version of detailed topo) - many more than the US. All looked very interesting. Do they get mtb use? With all the old farms and tracks - it must be like having great bunches of fire roads to check out!

Where? The Dakotas? Near the Badlands? I can't remember anything in AZ/NM quite like this. Idk Utah, CO, etc. It isn't OR, I'm pretty sure, although there is plenty of wide-open space in eastern OR that I've never been to.

Kind of. and what you referr to are linked to the rail system. the one thing that has intrigued me is the foot paths near rail tracks and the wide birth the rail systems has. most rails have huge space with what looks like a well maintained gravel road. Like a total gravel road type system between towns. I could imagine some serious CX bike or as we have here now Gravel Bikes in the US. Although the friends and family I have cycling there dont use them fir that intended purpose.

I did a group road ride up in the Dales and however beautiful, it was the most frightening thing with no bike lane. Very few cars but the ones that were passing were crazy fast.

Isle of Wight UK is supposed to be pretty good for trails, also South Downs etc and little traffic on minor roads usually - just try to avoid blundering onto a main road.
