I remember the talk about it but didn't his agent want it to be a full on "Hollywood" production with something like a $30 million dollar budget and the best offer they got was for a made for TV movie with about a $2 million budget.

It is possible that after checking out Kevin Costner in American Flyer... or Dennis Quaid in Breaking Away, the concept of another horrible cycling film was promptly shelved by anyone with any sense at all..

Actually it was Jake Gyllenhall who was pencilled in to play LA. He shadowed him for a while and even did some training rides with him in france prior to the TDF in 2004 or 2005, if my memory serves me right.

I suspect the movie will get made one day. Once the ending is known.

Yeah, it did not suck. It is a great movie abouth youth, incidentally also about cycling. Great acting, gorgeous classic music...Not at all like American Flyers, which sucks.

For anyone who thought the movie Breaking Away "sucked," you must not know it won an Oscar, nine other international awards and was nominated for another 9. A lot of us think it's a great movie - KC cycling film really did "suck"!!
