Hi all, I am looking for some help on a new road bike. I am looking at a new Cervelo S5 or Colnago. A good mate of mine did have a Colnago and got poor warrenty back up which puts me off. Has any one used both these brands?

Geeezz, get the Colnago. I see the insides of Cervelos all the time and I'm not impressed by crap I see inside. Also try to ride each, for more than around the block, that will make the decision an easy one.

Really? This is a hard decision for some people? *facepalm*

Or you could just have Dario Pegoretti make you something beautiful and call it a day.

If you have the cash to splash down on a carbon bike, then Parera is right. Top of the line commercial bike (Colnago - how could you resist after seeing that photo?!) or stand out with a custom made beauty from an independent maker of high quality (Pegoretti for Parera, Parlee or Crumpton for me, others include Independent Fabrication, Speedvagen, and Storck). Not sure where you live, but every second person in Canada has a Cervelo. Good for them, but stand out from the crowd!

Lots of other custom bicycle manufacturers out there for different materials. I have a level 4 custom titanium road bike from Lynskey that I love to ride. In fact, I sold my Cervelo R3 because it did not compare to the Lynskey.

I agree with Skellster. Cannondale does not always spring to mind immediatly as they are a bit of a quiet achiver, not splashing the bling and $$ around the media with air slicing hyperbole (aero frames). But every once in a while they drop on us a sensational looking and performing product like the new Evo. It's like they survey the field, pick the best bits of the latest ideas, remove the marketing hyperbole of each season and give us an unassuming design, traditional horizontal top tube in a very light package. Think CAAD 7, Six13. That is smart. Now they just need to make the Evo framesets available as well.

(No I do not work for them, but have read about their approach and they do appeal to me)

I agree when it comes to under appreciation of Cannondales, however Colnago do make a phenomenal product - Cannondale gets the nod from me for being slightly better value.

I also look at the S5 and scratch my head wondering why an aero bike has such an upright position  (Why Vroomen! WHY!!!!) however I'm young enough and flexible enough to be in the "Slam that Stem" school of thought....

If I had the budget I would be going for the Colnago!

If I was in the market for a new frame, a white EPS or EPQ with the old school decals would do it for me. Like this one....

Love those old school decals!

Too bad Colnago only put them on the Master X light now :(

You can still get the old school livery on either the C59 and the EPQ. Even if it's not in the current catalog, Colnago has always been flexible with the finish for their customers. They'd even do one of those fishing lure paint jobs from the 80's if you asked nicely and flashed a couple bills at them.

Mike Perry at Maestro can get basically any current Colnago frame in any colour livery offered by Cambiago over the last 25-30 years. At very competitive pricing. And you get proper advice based on years of experience. Atmo the best bike shop in the UK.

seems you are considering quite different bikes. Why not 2 with more similar characteristics?

Yeah, I don't see the debate either (although the wheels are a little much). Is this a troll, or did the op wander in hear from slowtwitch.com? :D
