Where is the battery hidden in Tejay's new Specialized?

Who knows where they have hidden the Di2 battery in Tejay's new Specialized?
I reckon it's somewhere in the seatube - so that it can be taken out fairly easily to get recharged.

I don't know what the battery life is but it would make the most sense to have it set up so that removal for charging is not even necessary. Just build a port into the tube that allows for a usb cord or whatever configuration it is to plug right in. I don't like the hassle of removing my light battery pack and that just wraps around the stem. Much less having to remove my seat post every few days to charge.

Di2 only needs to be charged about every 2-3 *months*...and that's if you ride just about every day, so charging convenience is really not an issue. That said, I think you're right that taking the seat off to charge would be a hassle, because seat height is so sensitive to change. The best location I've seen is to mount the stock Shimano battery up under the back of the seat. It is a little bit of a torture/mystery to have the article leave us hanging on Specialized "obvious" location though.

I'd rather have a battery that lasts a week or a bit less to not carry such a bulky big battery as they have now.

Who will remember to recharge if it lasts 2-3 months?

No worries, that's why you have the small LED indicator on the front which tells you whether you still have enough battery left or soon need to recharge.

Pull the crank to be able to get at the battery..brilliant....bet the wrenches love it.

Smaller battery shaped to be a handlebar plug is what I would do, 4/3A cell would fit neatly. So many bars have internal cable routing now anyway, but routing the wiring under the bar tape would be an option if your bike wasn't so equipped. Zero aerodynamic impact and away from the impact risk and grime/road spray of anything mounted down near the wheel or chainline, or the damp environment inside many a seat tube after a wet ride.

Don't know why they came up with the battery design they have been using so far, looks like it has been stolen from somebody's SLR camera grip with little thought given to form for it's intended function.

Of course some weight weenie would object because it makes the bike unbalanced:rolleyes:

So why not do two batteries in parallel on each side of the handlebars? Makes the wiring a little more difficult, but... ;)
