Yep, seems to be true. Just reported on major news outlets here in Australia.

ETA: Sad news, and I feel a bit stunned by it, despite the fact she has so clearly been off the rails for some time. An amazing talent.

Just read the msnbc news....no details of how or where...

I just read she died in her hotel room in Beverly Hills, but it's not clear yet how she died.

UNfortunately those details and her rumoured drug addiction do make you think that she may have overdosed on something...sad really.

That is true. Somewhere it was said she might have drowned in the bathtub. But in the same article they say she was found lying on the floor, which doesn't really make sense. Should stop reading that stuff.

What a shock :(

She had the voice of an angel but a demon on her shoulders. We so often think that money and fame are the answer to happiness but it clearly was little comfort or security to her. She certainly had all the help and support that could be offered but she still couldn't cope with her life. A sad ending.

Shocked!

At her best (or close to) she had a magnificent voice. While put in the pop star box...her voice offered so much more than that...truly a "talent".

A friend reported on her concert of last year...Indicating that while her voice was not stupendous and needed resting after each pair of songs or so...it was still a spectacular show.

I am saddened at our loss...

Someone died. That´s bad, sure. But feeling pity or mourning? Hell no. Another non role model is dead. I hope the kids understand that there is nothing to admire the rich who waste money for drugs and degenerate lifestyles...

Well, it's certainly a cautionary tale. Even if she didn't overdose, her background is anything but that of a role model, the last two decades of her life associated with addiction, and a rather sordid lifestyle. Maybe it is more of a waste, but it's still sad.

Sad for sure. Still, she had to be one of the most annoying singers ever. Reminds me of some very hard to tolerate neighbours I had back when the soundtrack to The Bodyguard was unleashed on the public. Her contribution to the album was played over and over all day long by them, which nearly drove me over the edge.

Now ifeel real sad (for you). I know that feeling. I have a neighbor who plays german rap (way worse than US-Rap) almost every day. It drives me crazy. My only defense is hitting back with some good old loud heavy metal like "kill´em all" of Metallica.

As usual, i do agree.

I hated her music, but she sure had an incredible voice. Her lifestyle wasn't exactly designed for longevity though. Sad, but not surprising.

<spam snipped>

Obviously the server algorithms knew what this was, since it ended up in your spam box. Why root around in there and dig out gems like this? I love ya, El Chingon, but not sure why you felt the need.

Since we are wayyy off topic:
Why does Ulle relax?
I think he´s rather annoyed since conceivably corrupt Birotte obviously gave Epo-Lance Pharmstrong a carte blanche to carry on and spoil another sport (triathlon), while Ullrich is the scapegoat for the generation of Über-Dopers. Hope Armstrong joins Whitney Houston in hell soon. I am optimistic, since all this dope don´t carry you above 50. :D
