I was wondering about this after the weekend’s shenanigans; and it’s not an age / experience thing for me.

Hinault’s first Tour…

I guess you either have it…

… or you don’t.
These pics don't necessarily scream boss to me though.

Could just as well be the weird antisocial kid acting tough that nobody is really paying attention too. Guy to his right talking looks more like ths boss.

Yes, it does take more than talent to be a leader, and Remco has not yet shown leadership qualities.
I find this an odd take. He clearly motivated squads in GT's before, is outspoken, talks about his teammates (both commending them and stating when the team wasn't as strong), has been shown talking to riders of all kinds of teams after the finish.

Aside from that he is known to have been captain of football squads.

If all these things don't point towards leadership qualities then I wonder if you are not setting an arbitrarily high bar that cannot be fulfilled by someone if we only look at what the race cameras show us. I would also wonder what riders have expressed great leadership qualities for you recently.

Yeah maybe, though that description probably fits quite a good number of the peloton, and always has. iBanesto’s later Hinault pic from the top of Alpe d’Huez, with the ashen-faced weird antisocial American kid, is perhaps a better example.

Being an ever-loquacious international playboy like my Alexander isn’t for everyone, after all.

Remco is El Patron in the peloton. Who is El Patron on the forum?
Maybe it is @Devil's Elbow , since he is the forum remco. One of the consistently best posters, performing at a top level for all the best races throughout the season. Bringing great insight and imrpoving the forum. But not afraid to say what's on their mind in the heat of the moment and complains a lot about things they don't like. Also has a vendetta against vuelta organisers ( and likes to blame race organisers a lot in general).

He starts a lot of the race threads, so he automatically has some power to dictate discussion by bringing whatever talking points are on his mind to the table. He could even put a fake race profile there just to mess with us. That's what I would do

Problem is they keep getting banned, but Logic is quick to put squash anyone if they consider they are wrong, especially if using dodgy facts.
