Who is the alternative for McQuaid?

While the debate of whether nomination of McQuaid is going on, there has been no progress on who would be the alternative for him.
Lemond spoke about it but only as an interim arrangement. Also the way USA cycling kowtowed to UCI on unsanctioned races, I think they are unlikely to rock the boat by nominating Lemond.
The only national cycling federation with the guts to go against UCI are probably the French. (They have a history of rooting for the second:D)
Unless there is a strong viable alternative for McQuaid, what will happen is that some stooge of Verbruggen/McQuaid will be nominated to become a puppet President and they will be ruling by proxy.
In order to make a difference, somebody who is CLEAN;) must come forward to save cycling.

Spock.

The search is on ...

I volunteer. I promise to apply the basic concept of supply and demand to the doping problem. In other words, I plan on reducing doping by doubling the price of bribes. I figure this will be an all-around win for the sport and, most importantly, for me. I will also apply sensible reductions to the UCI budget. This will include elimination of expenses on denying things that that are self-evident, like suing people for likening me to Colonel Khadafy. All in all, I expect my administration, while not likely to be a huge success, will be a modest improvement over the previous regime.

Thanks for your support.

How is this a clinic subject? Pat isn't in charge of Wada? Forum subjects exist outside of your dope world.
As for the subject ar hand? No one wants the job and there is no one identified in the cycling politics world as an alternate. Sylvia Schenk was the last real candidate. If Greg was serious he should already be seeking USA Cyclng support.
It is the best question asked on the subject. too bad it was posed by dopes.

The reason why this subject is in Clinic is because ultimately doping is a core part of the election subjects and Armstrong's name is also going to come up. One can't mention the word doping in the other forums:D
Also personally i don't dope or cheat. The dope world belongs to Armstrong, Landis, Hamilton, Ullrich, Heras et.al. I am outside of it. So please donot put me into it:eek:.

Honestly, I'd rather see a person plucked off the street sitting in the big chair over McQuaid. Odds are that a random person could make reasonable and ethical decisions on most issues with some basic background information and support from other element's of the UCI's existing infrastructure.

What qualifications does McQuaid really have for this role? That he has connections (to all the worst scumbags in the sport) and is well-versed in how the (corrupt) side of the cycling world operates?

Put up random unknown person "X" against him in a vote, and I'd take "X" hands down. In other words, I could find a few billion other preferred choices.

THERE IS an acceptable Candidate , should the man decide that Cycling Ireland , deserves another chance !

Anto Moran , has shown GREAT INTEGRITY , to the Cycling World ! Help persuade him to step forward !

Here is my letter to Cycling Ireland ! My first letter , went unanswered but WE ALL , had a result , through Anto's abilities , let's ALL hope he will allow his name to go forward ?

" Gentlemen ,
It came as a pleasant surprise on Saturday 27th April , to read that your Friday meeting resulted in the decision to have an " Extraordinary General Meeting "! That you chose this course of action demonstrates that you are NOW Listening to your Membership !

ALL the reports i read , indicate that there is a Groundswell of Opinion , that feels Pat Mc Quaid , has had his time in the office of President of the UCI ! Should he be refused a Nomination by Cycling Ireland as a result of the " EGM ", then let the Swiss run the risk of suffering the Derision of the Cycling World , should it choose to offer him as their nominee !

When the results are in from the " EGM " , and it is clear that Pat Mc Quaid will not receive support for a Nomination , may i suggest that you forward " Anto Moran's name " as the Candidate of Cycling Ireland ! As to whether " Anto Moran " will consider accepting this proposal , i feel sure that his INTEGRITY , is such , that other Countries will be happy to endorse the Proposal . This man has shown the Cycling World that he will not be a party to the " Shenanigans " that have taken place in Aigle , during the past Generation .

Anto Moran , has done Volunteer work for Cycling Ireland and will be as aware of what is needed in the UCI , as any other Candidate . He would probably be reluctant to live in Aigle & Switzerland , full time , BUT , this is a world where SO MUCH of the admin work can be done over the Internet . Physically being on site is not a Game Breaker . During the period he will hold that Office , he could oversee the CHANGES that are required to improve the Constitution of the UCI , remove " Anti Doping " to another authority , and implement the changes that will see the UCI become more Transparent .

All the items that you proposed to Pat Mc Quaid , to be considered , would be at the forefront of Anto's agenda . He appears to be a man of principle and would undoubtedly win over ALL Those with a different agenda !

As time is pressing , i would ask that Anto be consulted , IMMEDIATELY , so that in sending out the " Notice of EGM " , you will be able to include this proposal for consideration also ?

sincerely

Skippy Mc Carthy

PS Whilst i do not expect an answer , i would appreciate an office worker , acknowledging receipt of this Email !

Have you gone to the bother to check if AM is interested in UCI Pres role before you sent this? Would seem to be a courtious thing to do in advance of propostitioning him!! Wouldn't you think?

Great post.

This says it all - random chance is better than McGoof, because he is just that bad.

Writing messages like that with a multitude of words in capitals is really going to get you taken seriously ...

Lance for president!

What I would actually like is transparency, as a governing body and monopolist, the UCI should not have need for the current amount of secrecy if the amount of corruption is negligible. I don't really care who's leading the bunch, as long as the organisation has a decent degree of transparency.
