Why NYC is the best big city to train in.

NYC blows for training, pedestrians are worse than cars in the city! I've done many laps in Central Park never gets any more interesting. Gotta take the Hudson Line up to nothing less than Dobbs Ferry or Terrytown to get any decent road riding in, or the Harlem Line to Chappaqua.

riding at that speed, that close to the runners, walkers in the dedicated lane is just dangerous, annoying, and foolish. But, hey, knock yourself out.

Appreciate you had fun, etc but the thread title is ridiculous!

unless you are going to start pedantically trying to define the word 'big', the idea that NYC is the best of the big cities from a rider's perspective is absurd.

But New York was the best big city on that day... it had Harley in it!

Of all the many impressive things we've seen fruitboy do, blowing by slower riders without warning or leaving them room, and riding the wrong way between traffic lanes on a busy street are the coolest by far. I mean, just wow! Why don't I do that? Keeping up with a guy training on the road on a mtn bike is pretty cool too. Gotta go now, banana #30 is calling me.

a few close calls, there. That "road" (?) doesn't look open to cars, so that's a good thing. But, going that fast on a glorified bike path that is as crowded as it looks also looks quite sketchy.

The whole "wholier-than-thou since I am a vegan" thing is also wearing a bit thin. Showing yourself in the same video where you grafitti someone's property... wow

WTF @ 7:30 ???? .... nevermind

I have raced and trained in a few big cities. I also consider Frankfurt a big city because of all the stuff that is clumped on. If you watch the video this is a daily disaster waiting to happen on way too many levels. Joggers often have a watch or heart rate monitor and they know their run is almost over and will completely change directions, 180 or exit the park using a right angle to the open road bike path. Prospect is a little safer but not any more interesting. There were recumbents , joggers, strollers, golf carts, cars, tourists all on a route where a guy is flying, pretty f-cking dumb. The two places that no racing cyclist should be doing speed work are Prospect or Central Park. Yes going to Floyd or 9w is harder but come on..if either guy hits a stroller or old man while crushing 500 watts the end is result is tragic. Tragic also is allowing idiots to spray paint. Are you one of the people that spent 1600 bucks on the Brooklyn bamboo bike class?

Not sure why it was necessary to recklessly pass joggers and recreational riders at that speed. I wish the video would have shown their reaction to you two buzzing them at speed. It's just irresponsible.
