Good to see Wiggins Snr is trying to just enjoy having a ride without all the hoopla -
https://cyclinguptodate.com/cycling/it-will-be-the-first-time-in-nearly-three-years-for-me-getting-back-on-a-bike-bradley-wiggins-to-return-to-cycling-for-one-off-occasion
"It will be the first time in nearly three years for me getting back on a bike, and I'm looking forward to it," 'Wiggo' continues. "I'm a little bit nervous whether I'll get round the whole thing. I think I will, I'm in pretty good shape at the moment. I'm looking forward to it. I hope to see as many of you there as possible."

The main reason Wiggins has avoided the bike in recent years, has, as he succinctly puts himself: "Because I don't like the person I became when I was on it."

"I was the most confident bike rider when I was on it," Wiggins told the BBC recently. "But step off the bike and I had to step back as Bradley Wiggins, because the bike was where I was most comfortable and gave me all my confidence in my life. I can't imagine achieving anything like that now in a sports perspective because I'm not the same person I was. I've grown now. I have all the answers."
Info on the upcoming ride on September 29th - which is the same day as the WC of course.

The Wiggins Bankruptcy rolls on ...

One interesting titbit in the story -
Wiggins Rights Limited was established as a company to run the former cyclist’s affairs during his career, and holds the registered trademarks to the names ‘Bradley Wiggins’, ‘Wiggins’, and ‘Wiggo’. According to the latest update from liquidators MHA, an “interested party” has been identified in the sale of these trademarks, but “no documentation has been exchanged”.
Ok, what's the thoughts on the "interested party"? A certain Texan maybe? Sir Jim? Froome?

There have been really extreme moments. Probably the last one was about a year ago, without going into too much detail. I was in a very dark place, it was a hotel and my son intervened: he made me understand the self-destructive mode in which I found myself".

Bradley Wiggins, who achieved his greatest results when he wore the Team Sky jersey, said that Lance Armstrong offered to pay for his therapy. The American cyclist, who won seven Tour de France road bikes only to have them removed after confessing to having adopted doping substances, supported his former colleague: "Lance has helped me a lot in recent years. We were talking about therapy, he wanted to help me go to this amazing place in Atlanta. He is a good person: it does not mean forgiving what he has done, but he has a heart".

Did anyone notice him acting odd at times on the move podcast this summer? Lance mentioned how he wasn't sure Wiggo would get there until he heard the plane was in the air. He looked uncomfortable during some of the pods, and Lance mentioned him spraying a ton of cologne and setting off the smoke alarm. My guess is he was smoking a lot of weed

Self medication, I think is the usual term. Alcohol & cannabis sounds like it. Hope the poor guy can get his life back in order. The worry is of course is that he ends up being used by other people.

I thought he was off the alcohol thesedays, not sure about the wacky baccy, but I think he's quite strongly affected by adhd, so his mannerisms and that kind of unreliabilityness that Armstrong is alluding to in the not getting on the plane stuff is strongly linked to that part of the autism spectrum, not substance abuse.

He only arrived because Ben and his ex had to organise everything. Tickets/passports/visa etc.

He did look uncomfortable I think because he wasn’t in the best headspace. Credit to him for putting himself out there within a public situation (podcast), and taking a chance on himself with friends.

My favorite was when lance was ribbing Wiggins a bit and Wiggins shuffled a bit in his seat and a look of worry over lances face as he asked Wiggins if he was leaving at that moment. You just never know with the head space of people struggling
