In almost all other sports (exclude baseball; american football) a world series incorporates all continents. How can we have a world cup MTB series where 5/6 events are in Europe and 1/6 in North America.

Maybe the UCI should start thinking about the other continents/regions around the world and start trying to form relationships in Asia & Oceania and have equal weighting to the No. of events i.e. 3 Northern & 3 Southern Hemisphere or even 2 Europe; 2 America's; 2 Asia; 2 Africa; 2 Oceania.

Then you can call it A WORLD CUP!!!!

Can't remember the last Antarctic round of the Football World Cup myself...

I'd like to see a Colombian or Argentian round added each year and for the World Cup opener to alternate between South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Considering sporting wise the World Cup has pantsed the road season this year let's not go radically changing it just for the sake of semantics. Remember this isn't golf we're talking about, most teams operate on a shoe-string budget so jetting off to Asia or the antipodes for one race isn't viable for many competitors.

There are 9 countries in Europe which have, on their own, a greater population than all of Oceania combined. To give two to Oceania based simply on the definition of "continent" would be ridiculous. To have many European countries rarely receiving an event while New Zealand gets one every year would make very little sense.

Besides, for 2011, 2012 and 2013, there is one event in Africa, two in North America and four in Europe. Is that really so scandalous?

Doesn't South Africa have a round of the MTB World Cup? In an ideal world it would be nice to have a race on each continent but you can abandon your supporter/fan base with locations where there is no supporter base for sakes of globalisation.

I'm in full agreement with the above replies. As it is, some teams already complain with the deslocation costs, in a sport that doesn't get much exposure and money.

Anyway, there's a possibility for 2013 that the world cup will end in China. Although it is confirmed that Windham will be out
