Hey President Obama has everyone all bent about his new NewKleur polices. Funny how some issues can get into the repeat news circuit.

I just lump you all together, the forenoon fanatics.

I can see how you would do that, someone with your higher intellect and potential Mensa candidate.

Please keep us updated on your takes in regards to the United States Political sizuation.

DA's sex ed warning befuddles Wis. teachers, kids - Yahoo! news

They're going to have sex regardless what the law says, so you may as well over protection and support, the threat of jail time and a fine is not going to change that.

The death of free speech

patricknd said:
my problem is with the whole strategy of shouting the opposition down to prevent their opinion from being heard by others. if you are right in your beliefs, why are you so afraid the opposing side having their say? i think both sides are guilty in this, and unfortunately it seems more and more to be the accepted norm. the loudest shouter wins the argument.

Exactly! I don't know the situation in other countries but in Canada more and more Universities have banned pro-Israeli and anti-abortion speakers and clubs. Recently, Anne Coulter cancelled a speaking engagement at the University of Ottawa after being chased off by an angry mob. I have nothing good to say about her or anyone else on the political right but I also wouldnt be caught dead aligning myself with the intolerant, hate-filled social engineers that make up the left these days.

I'd start planning the move if I were you.

Let me also be clear, I voted for Obama because I knew he wasn't a radical, and that has turned out to be correct. All of the talk of him changing our flag to red with a sickle and hammer is just stupid. Flat out STUPIDITY. In fact, to brand him a "Socialist" is to not only completely misunderstand what a Socialist really is, but is also historically ignorant of our economic history.

Personally, I want to live in a democracy with a mixed economic system more heavily weighted to socialist ideals. There are plenty of countries in Europe that are much more to my liking, but I would have to leave my family to live there, and to me, there are some things more important than the government...that is unless we as a country elect Sarah Palin, and then I will honestly look to move to Canada as a compromise. Any country stupid enough to allow a dimwitted mouth breathing moron to be chief executive is a country not worth living in...wait, I forgot about Bush......well, she is even dumber than that.

Come on up! Bring some BBQ with ya. Ours is crap.

it's censorship any way you slice it. seems to me to be prevalent on internet forums as well. only the "in crowd" has free rein to express an opinion.

Poor Anne Coulter, who is most famous for saying, "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders, and convert them to Christianity." People complain about her spreading her hate, and they are the hate filled social engineers.

Anne Coulter is free to give her speeches in front of the Klan, Neo-Nazis, white christian separatists, and Texans, who will appreciate her views..

Do you have even the faintest idea what free speech means? As for Buckwheat, I thought I was pretty clear that I have no respect for either side.

I agree with the censorship part but I don't get what you mean about the "in crowd". Everybody seems to have pretty free rein around here.

Patty D is suffering from paranoid delusions that he is oppressed because he is not part of an imaginary in crowd. This undoubtedly comes from a chronic state of being uncool and never fitting in with the popular kids.

He feels he is unfairly picked on when people refuse to embrace his belief that Lance Armstrong is God.

I can't stand Newt and I don't get Fox. I had it a couple years ago and watched to see if it was as bad as I'd heard. It was. The thing that upsets me is that I mostly agree with liberal policies. I believe, for example, that good affordable health care is a basic human right. But I see examples every day of the far left shouting down any opinion not in line with theirs and I just can't get behind that. If you havent figured it out yet, I am pretty passionate about free speech and despise people who mess with it.

Well then what is your bullshit about "in crowd" all about. Are you just not able to accept the fact that you are an asshat and people don't like you?
Your point would be stronger if you ever did anything but biatch about anybody who says anything that you don't like.

The far left is shouting people down? Where?

You are aware of what the right was doing at health care town halls and Sarah Palin speeches. You know, bringing guns and engaging in racist hate speech.

Damn, it would be nice if we could keep things at the shouting down level. The problem with the left is that they have been cowed by the right while they, the left have a large majority.

Another specialty of the right is the phony outrage, something paddy is exhibiting and that it appears you are leaning to.

<What part of my post about the universities and public schools didnt you understand?

>I'm not sure I understand what you mean. If you're saying that there's too much extremism on both sides then I agree totally.

If you think the threat to free speech is phony then I guess I don't know what to say to you.
Ok I completely messed up that post- my computer skills are not great. Hope you can make sense of it. And thanks for keeping it civil.

And, a point you did prove. Look at the post just below this one I quoted.

Mods get involved when you stir up the denizens in this cozy little left corner of the forum, so knock it off. :D

I saw Coulter on Public Television speaking to undergrads at Boston College and they were literally laughing at her while tearing her arguments to shreds.

I don't know if you've noticed, but there are NO intellectuals remaining on the right.

There is a threat to free speech and that's by the people that Coulter and her ilk are stirring up. These "extra chromosome conservatives" (coined by GHWB and Lee A****er, btw) then feel free to bring guns to debates. I'd say a gun is a greater threat to free speech than anything the "left" (In the U.S. or Canada of course) has done in this arena.
