On June 22th the first edition of the Copenhagen Sprint will be raced. The race is part of the World Tour. A few weeks ago the participating teams were published. There are only 10/18 WT-teams who are going to race: Cofidis, Intermarche, Jayco, Lidl, Picnic, RedBull, Visma, Bahrein, Alpecin en Arkea.
Not racing: XDS-Astana, Education First, Movistar, Groupama, Decathlon, UAE-Emirates, Ineos en Soudal.
Interesting because there are a lot of points to earn; Picnic and Cofidis are starting, Astana not.
Because of the low amount of WT teams there are 13 wildcards (!). The most for a WT event thus far I think.
3 automatic wildcards for Lotto, Israel and UNO X. But also: Burgos, Caja Rural, Euskaltel, Q36.5, Tudor, Solution Tech, Flanders, Total Energies, Unibet Rockets en Polti.
This means the only PCT not participating are: Novo Nordisk, Bardiani, WB2 and Kern Pharma.
To conclude a Danish national team will race, mostly with riders from non participating WT/PCT-teams.
