Darach McQuaid, Fat Pat's little brother, is putting together a bid for the 2015 road worlds to be held in Virginia. You have to be a real loser if your corrupt brother is the head of the UCI and you can't win the bid.

The state is creating a viable bid for 2015. Along with the cyclo-cross worlds in Kentucky for 2013. At least America is stepping up in this time of global recession. Thanks America!

The local trailor trash will love this with all the closed roads. I suppose the fact it will piiss off a few local rednecks might make it worth it though.

I hope the rainbow jersey doesn't confuse them. No Cleetus, it doesn't mean he's gay.

Damn. i thought canada was a shoe in for it. Carlotn Kirby said they had the bid won and though he isnt to be trusted i was hoping to see some of that Quebec/ Montreal circuit racing for a worlds.

PErsonally i think the worlds should take place outside europe a lot more often. Weve got every other major event taking place in europe, and this is a sport where you get to see landscape, culture, cities etc. forget 7 or 5 years. They should be holding it at least once every 3 years.

Maybe even alternate years. So europe, N america, europe, S america, europe, africa, europe, asia, europe, n america, europe s america etc etc etc.

This is how I'd like it done. As you say, Europe sees more than enough top level cycling; having to make do with only half the World Championships would hardly be a bad deal.

The only real "stepping up" America is doing is stepping up to the corporate trough for more taxpayer bailouts. But hey, you knew that eh Mr. Wall St.?

Bearing in mind that the bid has McQuaid's brother involved, doesn't that present a problem in terms of a conflict of interest?
